3-Piece Parlor Suite -to 1 The Minneapolis Police Benevolent as-ociation treasury this year will be rehabilitated to the extent of $30,000 through a new process, the old "strong rm" tartios being abandoned for 1922 to give trial to a new plan for raising funds which was developed at a meeting yesterday of Mayor Leach, representatives of the police department and Fled Atwood, chairman of the public solicitations committee of the Civic Commerce association, Motorists Will Not Be Victims. Heretofore the police department has Obtained the bulk of its funds from baseball games between the Minneapolis and St. Paul police departments, tickets for which were sold in many instances "under pressure." The bulk of the "strong arro" tactics for the fcale of tickets fell upon motorists, each purchaser being given a "tag," which frequently was taken by the' purchasers as a guarantee of immunity for minor traffic rules infractions. Thl practice of selling tickets, according to representatives of the police department, has been applied only because of lack of a more productive and satisfactory method. Single Ticket, 50 Cents.

Following ttys conference yesterday it'was announced that there would be Ho street sale of tickets this year and that each donor to the fund would be entitled to one ticket for each 50 cents given. The plan is for the police department to solicit donations throughout the city, each precinct police organization cover-Ins its own territory and sending re-terves into the business district to aid in the complete combing of the Central station district. Tho police in reaching an agreement for the bendonment of the street sales of tickets, reserved the right to go back on the old basis next year, provided the drive this year falls from poisoning in Paris, Miss Miller NOW ON SALE This fnagnificent parlor suite -defies any competition! -(Universal News Service) After lying for 12 years in a storeroom of the Clarldges hotel a beautiful portrait by Carolyn Duran has been discovered and claimed, subsequently, by Princess Uelozersky, daughter of General C. A. Whittler. It is a three-quarter length oil painting, B9 inches by 35, having for its subject the general's wife. The portrait was done in Paris by Duran in 1877.

General Whittler took the portrait to America, where it remained 20 years. Following the death of his wife the general resolved to come to England to live with his daughter. He shipped the canvas to the Claridges in advance. General Whittler died during the ocean voyage and the painting remained unclaimed until the other day when the Princess casually mentioned the disappearance of her mother's portrait to a member 1 of the hotel staff.
