I I I I I a a a a a a a a a a a a The Daily News Saturday, August 8, X.M. Frascogna, independent geologist X.M. "Frank" Frascogna, 65, of 4219 Eastover Drive, died Aug. 6, 1987, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center. A mass will be said 10 a.m.

today at St. Peter's Catholic Cathedral with burial in Lakewood Cemetery. Wright Ferguson Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Mr. Frascogna was born in New York City.

He was a former resident of Baton Rouge and Houston, Texas. He moved to Jackson in 1951. He received an early education in New York City public schools and later a bachelor's degree in geology from Louisiana State University. He was employed by Pan American Petroleum Corp. as a micropaleontologist in the Texas Gulf Coast region from 1949 to 1951 and as regional geologist in Jackson from 1951 to 1959.

He had been an independent geologist since 1959, including four years (from 1969 to 1972) as a consultant and division manager for Patrick Petroleum Co. Since 1972, Mr. Frascogna had been actively engaged in exploration in the Southeast. He was president of XMCO Inc. and director and vice president of Bay City Minerals Inc.

He was a retired major in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and served in both World War II and the Korean conflict. Mr. Frascogna, a member of numerous professional organizations, had served as president of the Mississippi Geological Society and as editor of the society's publication, Mesozoic-Paleozoic Producing Area of He was a member of the Society of Independent Professional Earth Scientists, the American Institute of Professional Geologists and the American Association of Petroleum Geologists. He is survived by his wife, Mrs.

Bernadean Culpepper Frascogna; sons, X.M. "Mike" Frascogna Louis Gregory Frascogna, Steven Mark Frascogna and Joseph Patrick Frascogna, all of Jackson; sisters, Mrs. Ronga of New York City, Mrs. Rose Knight of Berkeley, Mrs. Genevieve Prlain of Orinda, and Mrs.

Anne Bates of New Rochelle, N.Y.; brother, Louis Frascogna of New York City; and five grandchildren. Mrs. Elnora Durr Mrs. Elnora Durr, 93, of 1311 Oak Park Drive in Jackson died Aug. 4, 1987, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center.

Mrs. Durr was a native of Hot Springs, Ark. She was the national supervisor of the Women's Department of Evangelist Temple churches. She was also affiliated with the House of Refuge for all national Churches of God in Christ. She is survived by her sons, Bishop S.R.

"Pearl" Mason, 86, died Aug. 6, 1987, at Hinds General Hospital in Jackson. Services are 11 a.m. today at Breeland Funeral Home chapel with burial in Lodebar Methodist Church Cemetery. Mrs.

Mason was a native of Smith County, and had lived in Clinton for the past 66 years. She was the widow of Henry Clifton Mason, who died July 7, 1982. She was a member of the Pocahontas United Methodist Church. She is survived by her sons, Henry Lee Mason of Ridgeland, Lafloy Mason of Bolton and William D. Mason of Clinton; daughter, Mrs.

W.G. Miller of Clinton; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Louise T. Murriel CLINTON Mrs.

Curtis Hawkins, 19, of 3575 Flag Chapel Road in Jackson and Johnny Haymond, 28, of P.O.

Box 64, Madison, were being held in the Madison County Jail under $50,000 bond each, Detective D.L. Morrison of Ridgeland Police Department said. The two men originally were charged Tuesday with aggravated assault against Dennis Coulston, 21, of Route 1, Box 73, Madison. Hawkins and Haymond were arrested again Thursday afternoon after Ridgeland authorities upgraded the charge to attempt to commit murder and issued warrants for their arrests. Coulston was shot once in the mouth, leg and side with a caliber handgun about 12:30 a.m.

at 517 Leonard Ave. in Ridgeland. His leg was broken when he was struck with a shovel following the shooting, said Detective D.L. Morrison of Ridgeland Police Department. Coulston remained in stable condition Friday at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.

Ridgeland authorities said the shooting had gang overtones because all three of the men associated with youth gang members.
