4 d)t datf Olt'LeUpt B-Wedrresday, My 7, 1976 Survey Pro Football Migration Grows great again. demand and signed on III i'-- Mnr I A i If I i I 4 'I Waington Times Service i WASHINGTON- There has been a large migration of familiar pro football names to other clubs since the so-called Rozelle Rule has been suspended, a survey disclosed Tuesday. Of 24 who became free agents on May 1 as a result of playing out the option years of their contracts in 1975, 13 have already moved on to other clubs. Seven remain unsigned with National Football League training camps opening, and none can practice until they do agree on a contract. Four free agents have signed again with the same clubs.

Some of the unsigned are expected to rejoin their 1975 organizations defense end Fred Dryer of the Los Angeles Rams and quarterback Roman Gabriel of the Philadelphia Eagles, lor instance. Among those unsigned is defensive end Bubba Smith of the Houston Oilers. The schedule poses a tough challenge for new head coach M.K. Turk and the squad he will mould around nine returning lettermen, a couple of 1975-76 redshirts and six recruits. Home opponents other than West Texas. Memphis State, Centenary, Tulane and Louisiana Tech. are 20-game winner Pan American, St.

players who stiTl are unsigned by NFL teams. They are Daryle Lamonica, onetime Oakland Raiders quarterback who played with the WFL Southern California Sun, and Charley Har-raway, former Washington Redskins' running back who played with WFL Birmingham Americans. The number of those playing out their options in 1976 figures to be larger, unless the club owners and NFL Players Association agree to a modification of the Rozelle Rule in collective bargaining. The 1975 season was over before a Federal Court in Minneapols ruled the Rozelle Rule illegal. There were sevreal free agents who played out their options previously to join the WFL who benefitted this year as the NFL suspended applications of the Rozelle Rule pending appeal or a compromise with the players' union.

Among those were Larry Csonka, Paul Warfield, Jim Kiick, Calvin Hill, Duane Thomas and Dave Williams. Snapped up from among those who played out their options in 1975 were John Riggins, from the New York Jets; John Gilliam and Ed Marinaro, from the Minnesota Vikings; Jean Fugett, Dallas Cowboys; Pat Sullivan, Atlanta Falcons; Ron Johnson, New York Giants; Ahmad Rashad, Buffalo Bills; Ken Ellis, Green Bay Packers, and Mike Weger, Detroit Lions. The players appear to have been influenced by the chance to earn more money, from a club like the generous Redskins, who signed Hill, Riggins, and Fugett; money, glamor, and endorsements as in the cases of the Giants' landing Csonka and Marinaro, and the chance to play near home in the instances of Gilliam's going to Atlanta, War-field to Cleveland, Rashad to Seattle and Thomas to Dallas. Fugett moved closer to his home in Baltimore. Riggins said he preferred being' with a winning team over money as he left the Jets; Johnson left the Giants for a similar reason, he said.

Four cold-weather clubs Minnesota, Buffalo, Green Bay and Detroit will contend that their climate did not help them in dealing with Gilliam and Marinaro, Rashad, Ellis and Weger, respectively. In the previous season wide receiver Ron Jessie of Detroit played out his option and chose Los Angeles. Now O.J. Simpson wants out of Buffalo to play in Los Angeles. There has been a spate of trading of well-known players in 1976 for one reason or another.

Jim Plun-kett wanted to leave New England for his home near San Francisco and got his wish. Quarterback Steve Spurrier, a native of Miami, was traded to Tampa by San Francisco. Quarterback John Hadl went from frigid Green Bay with Ellis to Houston in a deal that sent Houston quarterback Lynn Dickey to the Packers. Three who played out their option with the Jets Lou Piccone, Rich Lewis and Rich Sowells discovered that non-superstars are not in Rhnson, from Vicksburg, was listed among the top prospects in by various scouting ser-fices, and averaged 19 points and 16 rebounds per game. HATTIESBURG Fourteen home games are included on a 26-game, 1976-77 basketball schedule announced by University of Southern Mississippi athletic director Roland Dale.

Home foes will include West Texas State and Memphis State, both of whom participated in the NCAA playoffs last season; Centenary, ranked in the top 20 most of last year; Tulane University; and Louisiana Tech, defending Southland Conference champion. Participation in the Senior Bowl Tournament at Mobile, a meeting with Ole Miss in Jackson and a visit to the University of North Carolina Charlotte, which reached the finals of the National Recall Espinosa The Associated Press NEW YORK Right-hander pitcher Nino Espinosa was recalled by the New York Mets Tuesday from their Tidewater club of the International League.
