1.99 TRENTON (UPT)-Gov. Richard J. Hughes said yesterday he hoped to meet with Port of New York Authority (PA) officiate after receiving a report from the State Transportation Department on available sites for a jetport in New Jersey. Hughes, in his first official comment since the release Tim. day of a PA report affirming its raxBiunenaaoon of tne Great Swamp in Morris Cnmtv tw best site, called the report "dis couraging.

Hughes vieorouslv has mv posed the Great Swamp site wmcn nrst was proposed 1960 and evoked a major controver-sey. Discouraging Report Hughe's complete statement: "While it is somewhat discouraging, the recent report of the Port of New York Authority on IN latest survey of sites for a jet port points up the fret that the states of New York and New Jersey must renew their efforts to find a suitable loca turn for such a facility. "There is no question that our inability to rind an adequate jetport site could have dire conse quences on the economy of our state and, more importantly, give rise to even greater safety hazards resulting from further congestion at our already over crowded metropolitan airports. "A solution must be found. and it is for this reason that I recently asked Commissioner David J.

Goldberg of the Department of Transportation to make a new effort to find a jetport site for New Jersey. I hope to have further talks with Mr. Tobin upon receiving a report from Commissioner Goldberg Searching Northwest He referred to Austin J. To- "bin, PX 'executive fflf'WJllll. Goldberg said his staff is searching the state's "northwest quadrant" for a site.

This area would include Morris as well as neighboring counties, he said. Hughes told a news conference last week that while he would stick by his opposition, he was sorry that he pledged such adamance against a Great Swamp site, in the first place. His opposition was part of his i961 and 1965 election platforms. 2 Counties Can Have Full Judges Gloucester and Cumberland counties will be eligible for full time judges to handle domestic relations and juvenile cases according to a bill signed into law by Gov. Richard J.

Hughes. Th eovernor cave no indi cation when he will fill the two newly created po sitions. Both appointees are ex iwfpd to be Democrats. Assemblvman John L. White, Gloucester, sponsor of the bill, said the added judges will relieve the heavy case loads on the judges in the two counties.

White explained that many rases and juvenile hearings are postponed three or four months because of the heavy court calendars. He said that both types of cases need immediate attention. Bands, Cheering Lure Return of Retired Mummer Pete "Burns" Quarelli of Merchantville will be with his buddies again Monday when the Mummers march up Broad Street in Philadelphia. Quarelli, a founder and member of the Landi Comic Club, thought it was time to retire in 1964 after marching with the Mummers for 54 years and reaching the age of 61. However, the sound of the strutting string bands and the roars of approval from the hundreds of thousands who watch this traditional parade, apparently were too much for Quarelli.

He has left retirement and put his marching shoes back on his feet. plus 13C a mile (12' van) nonrn 4 OUR ORIG. 3.69 MISSES' JRS'. JEANS Cotton corduroy, western styling. 8-16, S-1S in group.
