E6 THE COURIER-JOURNAL Scorecard GIL THORP By Jerry Jenkins and Frank McLaughlin University of Kentucky basketball walk-on Ravi Moss and his father were arrested Friday night for disorderly conduct while attending a high school football game in Hopkinsville, Ky.

Moss, a 19-year-old sophomore, and his 51-year-old father, Austin, chairman of the Christian County Board of Education, spent about an hour at the county jail before being released Friday night. They are scheduled for arraignment in district court tomorrow morning. The younger Moss walked on to the team last season as a freshman and played in 12 games, averaging 0.8 points and 2.3 minutes. At University Heights High School in Hopkinsville, he was a four-year starter who averaged 21points and 10 rebounds as a senior. UK basketball spokesman Scott Stricklin said yesterday that coach Tubby Smith had met with Moss and his father about the incident.

Smith believes this is an isolated incident and will not affect his status on the Stricklin said. Moss could be punished in some form, but that would remain within the team, Stricklin said. The incident began with a fight at the Stadium of Champions during a game between Hopkinsville High and Christian County. A report by the Christian County department did not make it clear whether Ravi Moss was involved in the fight. After the fight, Moss was among a group of fans asked by police to vacate the scene.

He was escorted to the gate and argued with officers, the report said. He was charged with disorderly contact, a misdemeanor. About the time of arrest, his father arrived at the gate and allegedly grabbed Deputy Chad Grace, the arresting officer, pulled on him and yelled at police, according to the report. Austin Moss, vice president for human resources at Jennie Stuart Medical Center, also was charged with disorderly conduct. His actions caused a minor the report said.

Attempts to reach the Moss family and Grace were unsuccessful.
