NEW YORK (UPI) The more woman is emancipated from the home, the more man finds bondage to it. That, anyway is what I gather from another one of the numbers of surveys of who's doing what in the way of running the home.

This latest study, made at the World's Fair, was of 200-plus couples of assorted ages, income groups, and occupations. It found that 45 per er cent of the husbands help regularly with housework, including cooking. Interviewers for an appliance manufacturer spent a day at the House of Good Taste exhibit at the Fair to find how much dad does help at home. The interviewers chose that exhibit, they said, because it comprises three full-sized and completely furnished homes and attracts a representative portion of couples os from all parts of the country. They found that apparently women, working outside 1 the home or not, today seem to establish house rules at the start of marriage.

The only women who hadn't persuaded their husbands that cleanup campaigns begin at home were those wedded to doctors and lawyers. Almost every woman married to one of these said her husband seldom helps around the house. Among the other husbands in the 55 cent who don't do household chores regularly, most per, do pitch in with major tasks like scrubbing and waxing floors or washing windows. The largest number of men who help their wives was in the middle income bracket, reported the researchers (for the Eureka Home Care Institute). Their jobs ranged from accountants to storekeepers.

Of all the wives questioned in this group, 42 per cent said their husbands help regularly as against 13 per cent in lower income groups and a near zero in the upper echelon. Of the tycoon types, 29 per cent do lend a domestic hand occasionally. Husband's ages covered by the study spanned the years from 18 to 70, but age does not seem to figure in the homework picture. The number of years of marriage does. Answers from newlyweds all in their late teens or early 20's indicate that a new groom sweeps clean.

Percentages were about the same in both the middle and lower income groups. Only 15 per cent leave all the homemaking to their brides; 45 cent help with heavy chores; 40 per cent are full-fledged frst Foundation Tip: Try Garment On By GAY PAULEY Try before you buy is a caution every woman should follow before leaving a store with her new foundation garment. To help women make the proper garment selection, Miss Ellen Scott, foundation consultant for the J. C. Penney will be at the Audubon store on Thursday.

Scott will give tips on what to look for in foundation garments and explain why accurate measuring and fitting are so important for appearance and comfort. mates in cleaning and KP chores. The men seemed to have the same housework as women. The men anathemas, the dishes and most, bed-making chores. Half the women, on the other hand, said their husbands like to run the vacuum cleaner.

Wives with helpful-around-thehouse mates said their husbands do anything from polishing silver to hanging out the wash. One husband said he darned his own socks, although he didn't particularly enjoy the chore. Another husband, a longshoreman, said the chore he hated most was cleaning the bird cage. One couple, each in the 30's reported husband helping not at all around the house. "Are you kidding?" said the wife.

"He's a caterer." One wife, when asked if husband helped around the house, answered, "he doesn't do anything. He's just a retired Sanshi ART CENTER 50 TANNER STREET ALONGSIDE THE LIBRARY IN BEAUTIFUL HADDONFIELD FRAMING MATERIALS WE BUY, SELL, RESTORE FINE PAINTINGS fine furniture AUGUST PHILMOR FURNITURE WESTMONT, J.
