at the Chester Methodist Church, Chester, Neb. All relatives and friends are invited to the wedding. Vincent-Slavens Vows Mr. and Mrs. Elvin Vincent, 1312 Kiowa, announce the marriage of their daughter, Barbara, to Ralph Slavens on Jan.

24 at Ottawa, Kan. Ralph is the son of Mrs. Earl Blackman, Raytown, and Roy Slavens, Kansas City, Kan. Mr. and Mrs.

Slavens will make their home in Baldwin where both are attending Baker University. Visiting Daughters Mrs. Paul of 511 Elm and Mra. Helen Budy of S. 4th left Friday evening" to visit their daughters and families.

Mrs. Lashley will visit in Chicago with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. B. K.

Scott and their new daughter born Feb. 2. Mrs. Scott before her marriage was Darlyn Lashley. Mrs.

Budy will travel to Milwaukee, where she wi 11 visit her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Schaefer and their new son, Mark. Mrs. Schaefer was Sylvia Budy before her Mrs.

Lashley and Mrs. Budy, who are sisters, will be gone weeks. Honored at Dinner Mrs. Florence Flora, who retired as central office clerk from Southwestern Bell Telephone was honored with a dinner at the Skyview Wednesday. Mrs.

Ramon W. Jones entertained with a shower honoring Miss Pigg. Mrs. Edward Mcconweii, who will serve as matron of honor, entertained with Miss Mary Bliss of Denver at a bridal shower at the home of Mrs. McConwell.

A luncheon and miscellaneous shower was given by Mrs. George Berkemeier of Independence, at the Capri restaurant in Independence. Miss Judy Reid entertained for Miss Pigg with a linen shower at her home in Merriam. Miss Pigg was guest of honor at a miscellaneous shower given by Mrs. G.

Murlin Welch and Mrs. A. Snodgrass at Mrs. Welch's home in Merriam. Last night Mr.

and Mrs. Schroeder entertained with a rehearsal dinner in honor of Miss Pigg and Mr. Schroeder and their wedding party at the Glen- wodd Manor in Kansas City. The attendants for the wedding of Miss Pigg and Mr. Schroeder will be Mrs.

Edward McConwell, matron of honor, Miss Pamela Richardson of Independence, and Miss Margaret Schroeder, sister of the groom, will be bridesmaids. The best man will be Forest Ray Irons, of Atchison, John Hardeman and Neal Spence, both of Leavenworth. Ushers are to be Ronald Fletcher of Manhattan, Richard Roberts of Jamestown, and Larry Randall Pigg, Dallas, brother of the bride. MYRNA RAE, whose parents, Mr. and Mrs.

Donald Weidemier of 1213 Shawnee, are announcing her engagement to Ronald Lee Floray, son of Mr. A. P. Floray, RR 1. Miss Weidemier is a senior at Westmar College in LeMars, Iowa.

Mr. Floray is employed at General Services Administration in Kansas City, Mo. A June wedding is planned. Birthday Dinner Mr. and Mrs.

Nick Wagner of Easton entertained with a birthday dinner for their grandchildren and great-grandchildren who have birthdays in January and February. honored were James Wagiier; 1 Eloise Brown, Kimber- Susan Wagner and Linda BeyMg. Present were Mr. and Mrs. Erwin Brown, Eloise and Tony of North Kansas City, Mr.

Feb. 14 Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Steve Klimcak of 566 Marion will observe their 60th wedding anniversary on 14. The couple was married at St.

Casimir's Church on Feb. 14, 1904 by the Rev. John C. Grundzinski. Mrs.

Klimcak was the former Elizabeth Krestanka. They are the parents of seven children, Michael Klimcak of Dayton, Ohio; Stephen Klimcak of Idaho; Mrs. Ann Swendrowski of Kansas City, Joseph of New York, N. Charles Klimcak of 111 Maple Mrs. Robert Murray of 505 Pawnee and Mrs.

Elizabeth Osadnlck of Chicago. They also have 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. No celebration is planned for the occasion. IN HOSPITAL Mrs. Florence Thompson of RR 1 Easton underwent surgery at the hospital in Winchester Wednesday.

She is reported to be getting along nicely. RITES OF BAPTISM Lisa Marie, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred E. Miller, received the rites of baptism on Feb.

and Mrs. James B. Williams and children, Valerie and David, at Ft. Walton Beach, Fla. She accompanied them home when they returned from spending the holidays with relatives and friends in Leavenworth.

Mr. Williams is Chief MTA at the Federal Prison Camp at nearby Eglin Air Force Base, Florida. To Baptist Meeting Monday at 8:30 a.m. a group will leave from Calvary Baptist" Church to attend an all- day meeting of the Missouri River Baptist Association, affiliated with the American Baptist Convention. The meeting will be held at the Prairie Village Baptist church in Prairie Village.

Delegates from the church are Mrs. E. F. Yeater, Mrs. Tommy McNett, Mr.

and Mrs. J. L. Adams, and Rev. and Mrs.

Harold Thomas. Currently Rev. Thomas is vice moderator of this Associational group. Forty-five churches in this general area are involved in the activities of the Missouri River Baptist Association. WEDDING ANNIVERSARY Mr.

and Mrs. Robert Manthe of Denton, are today celebrating their 43rd wedding anniversary. A family dinner will be enjoyed. The couple was married in Winchester and have lived of their married life at Denton. A host of relatives and friends are residents of Leavenworth County.

Rosarium Shrine 17, Order of White Shrine of Jerusalem, will be hostess to the Kansas State White Shrine Club Feb. 16 at the Masonic Hall, 421 Delaware. This will be an all day meeting.

Nancy Hull and Jerry Mesier February 15th Courtesy of The ANNOUNCE ENGAGEMENT Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Nolte, Atchison, announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Joan, to Robert J. Elliott, son of Mrs. Mary Elliott, Potter.

Miss Nolte is a graduate of Nortonville High School and is employed at the Exchange Bank, Atchison. Mr. Elliott is also a graduate of Nortonville High School and is employed at the Santa Fe shops in Argentine, Kan. An April wedding is planned. gladioli, mums and emerald green flanked by white candelabras with emerald greens formed the background for ceremony.

Organ music was played by Mrs. Jack Miller who accompanied Mrs. Carl Spiel'man who sang, "Whither Thou Goest," and "Together." Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a floor length gown of chantilly lace arid gossomer tulle over tissue taffeta, styled with a basque bodice, scalloped sabrina neckline enhanced with sequins and pearls. Lace sleeves tapered to traditional points over the hands. The voluminous skirt was highlighted with tiered tulle and lace at the sides.

Her bouffant veil of french illusion fell from a crown of pearls tipped with crystals. She carried a white Bible covered with a white orchid and pink rosebuds. Miss Ethel Jones of Platte City, was maid of honor and wore a dress of emerald green brocade with three-quarter length sleeves, a lowered front waistline pointed at center and a full skirt worn with matching veil and accessories and carried a bouquet of white glamellias. Cambre Claypoole of Macon, i served as best man. Ronald Kamphefner and Joe Bill Kamphefner served as ushers and candlelighters.

Following the ceremony a reception was held in the church basement. The bride's table was covered with a white cut-work tablecloth over a pink background. The three-tier wedding cake was decorated with pink roses and hearts topped with a miniature bride and groom. Pink carnations and white rose buds surrounded the punch bowl and cake. Pink candles also added to the decoration of the table.

Cake, punch and mints were served by Mrs. Guy Kamphef- ner, Mrs. Roily Kamphefner and Mrs. James Porter. Mrs.

George Kamphefner, Miss LaVerne Lutte, Miss Carolyn Claypoole, and Miss Brenda Porter were in charge of the gifts. Miss Verda Mae Lutte was in charge of the guest book. Mr. and Mrs. Claypoole are at home south of Platte City on highway after a wedding trip to southern Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Kansas.

and Mrs. William Morris Hoge are announcing her engagement to Lt. (JG) Norman V. Edmonson, U. S.

Navy, son of Mr. and Mrs. Norman 'V. Edmonson of Media, Pa. Miss Hoge, a 1960 graduate of Leavenworth High School, is a senior at Vassar College, Poughkeepsie, N.Y., and will graduate in June.

Her fiance is a graduate of Yale University, New Haven, and is presently serving aboard the destroyer Vogelgesang based at Norfolk, Va. Colonel and Mrs. Hoge were stationed at Ft. Leavenworth and have many friends in the area. He is presently assistant professor of Military Science at Washington State University.

Miss Hoge is the granddaughter of Gen. (Ret) William Morris Hoge and the late Mrs. Hoge, Cleveland, Ohio, and Mrs. John Courtney and the late Mr. Courtney, Indialantic, and Cornwall on Hudson, N.

Y. Dorm Murphy Who's Who Nominee Donn B. Murphy, formerly of Leavenworth and now of Washington, D.C. has been chosen for inclusion in the new edition of "Who's Who in America." Mr. Murphy will be listed in the South-Southwest volume.

The son of Dr. and Mrs. Arthur M. Murphy, 709 Columbia, he was graduated from Immaculata High School and St. Benedict's College, Atchison, and holds a master of Fine Arts Degree from the Catholic University of America.

Mr. Murphy is a director and member of the Board of the American Light Opera Company in Washington and is on the faculty of Georgetown University, where he is director of drama. He is currently on leava of absence for studies at the University of Wisconsin as a Ford Foundation Fellow in International Theatre. the Kennedy adminii- tration, Mr. Murphy served as technical liason for dramatic and ballet performances at the White House, making lighting and scenery arrangements for the command performances following official state dinners.

He spent two summers as lighting director for the Starlight Theatre in Kansas City, and participated in entertainment programs at the Ft. Leavenworth YMCA and Service Club. Bethel WSCS of Highway 92 will meet at the home of Mrs. Clarence Geisen, 20th and Spruce, Wednesday at 2 p.m. A small valentine gift exchange will be held and members may bring remembrances for secret pals if so desired.

Lansing Community Club will meet Tuesday for an all day with covered dish luncheon at noon at the home of Mrs. Peggy Young. Mrs. Pat Huycke will be assisting hostess. Valentine Dinner Gamma Chapter, Alpha Delta Kappa, International Teachers Sorority, enjoyed a valentine dinner at Hotel Cody.

The tables were decorated by the hostesses, Jessie Sharp, Ilia Holland, and Velrna Quinn. Guests of Gamma Chapter were the newly initiated members of Alpha Tau chapter, Norma Bray, Annette Davis, Evelyn Damrill, Ella Miner, Lucy Noll, and Beulah Thompson. Valentine games were enjoyed by the group, WTiss Davis presented a visit to the Holy Land through slides and narration of a trip she had taken last summer. Gamma Chapter members present were Sadie Bell, Lucille Bennett, Shirley Bourn, Margaret Cochrun, Drusie Coffin, Irene Fisher, Marie Garrett, Edna Garretson, Barbara Hall, Mrs. Holland, Berneta Hyde, Nella Johnson, Mary Mayne, Edna McKone, Helen Ohme, Iva Fern Parsons, Mrs.

Quinn, Jean Ryan, Virginia Seymour, Mrs. Sharp, Marianna Spain, Mary Swick and Maybeth Walters. The Nancy Barrow Circle of the Bethel Baptist Church in Lansing met Thursday with I Mrs. Harold Logan. Mrs.

George Kidwell had the devotions on "Heart." Mrs. Judy Heitman had the program on "Man Reaches Out to God." Officers elected were: Chairman, Mrs. Leta Jones; co-chairman, Mrs. Heitman; secretary- treasurer, Mrs. Alma Spain; chairman of Christian service, Mrs.

Margaret Wood and chairman of- Christian training, Mrs. Kidwell. Members present were Mrs. Spain, Mrs. Heitman, Mrs.

P. S. Barrow, Mrs. Verna Van Meter, Mrs. Wood, Mrs Kidwell, Mrs.

Logan and Mrs. Jones. 68th Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. T.

J. Ferris, Nortonville, will observe their 68th wedding anniversary on Feb. 13. The Ferris' were the first couple married at the present Shawnee County Court House at Topeka soon after the large structure was completed in the winter of 1896. They have recently been nominated as the most honored guests at the dedication of the new Shawnee County Courthouse which is expected to be completed next T.

J. Ferris, Nortonville's oldest active citizen will celebrate his 93rd birthday Feb. 26 and Mrs. Ferris will celebrate her 90th on March 25. Married 56 Years Mr.

and Mrs. Maurice F. Black Sr. of Tonganoxie celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary Sunday at the home ot Mr. and Mrs.

Ray Hunter. The immediate family attended a reunion in observance of the occasion. Mr. and Mrs. Black have been residents of the Tonganoxie community for the past 35 years.

Mr. Black always has shown an active interest in sports and community activities. He was manager of the Reno Little League baseball team for many years. His interests now include bowling since -he- has four daughters who are-on the Rawlings team that bowls each Wednesday evening in Lawrence. Mr.

Black also served as president of the Leavenworth County Association for 17 years before retiring a number of years ago. Eagles Auxiliary 55 will meet Wednesday at 8 p.m. at the Eagles Hall. Regular business will be conducted. The Auxiliary will observe Friendship Night, with Estella Cobb, Florence Heintzelman, Theresa Vincent, Helen Meeker and Gen Burns serving as hostesses during the social hour.
