Coaches now can spend two hours per week with their entire team instead of being limited to a few players.

Coaches can keep this going until the official start of full-time sessions on Friday night. Neubauer started out with three workouts with four or five players in a group. Later he changed to two smaller-group workouts and one team practice for 40 minutes one day per week. Last week he switched to two team practices and one smaller-group session for 40 minutes. With Big Blue Madness approaching Friday night, basketball program still have a clue as to what his penalty will be if Morris accepted expense money to work out for ahandful of NBA teams.

The 6-foot-10 sophomore entered the draft last May and said during a June workout in Chicago that his goal was to get to the NBA as soon as possible. That goal was shattered when he drafted. He then decided in July to return to UK, which he is allowed to do under NCAA rules, as long as he accept expense money or enter into an agreement with an agent. The sports agency SFX issued statements on behalf at least twice and also sponsored a workout for him and three other draft prospects in Chicago. The NCAA and UK have jointly explored pre- draft actions to determine if he violated rules and if he did, how he should be penalized, most likely with a suspension.

Roberts was suspended for one regular-season game and required to repay the team $998 for expenses he received.

The NCAA ruled in that case on Nov.5, long after practice had started. Though UK would like to have a verdict by the start of practice on Friday, Stricklin said there is no timetable. The NCAA and UK have gone through a lengthy fact- gathering process that included receipts from trips, interviews with multiple NBA team officials, SFX representatives and anyone else with knowledge of his pre-draft workouts. Stricklin said UK has assisted in setting up these interviews but that the NCAA has conducted them. mostly complete, from what we Stricklin said of the information-gathering process.

If it is determined that Morris must reimburse NBA teams for expense money, he and his family would have to demonstrate how the money would be repaid, Stricklin said, and that could include a payment schedule if the amount is excessive. Until then, Morris will go on attending class, conditioning drills and individual workouts. And, mostly, waiting.
