Initial Meetings Slated For Personnel of four Mississippi Economic Council committees holding organizational meetings in Jackson during the first two weeks in May to open the organization's 16th year of work, were being announced Thurs day by Balmer Hill Jr. of Natchez, president of the statewide business group. Hill said members of the other three committees will be announced later. The four committees announced today, with their chairmen and date each meets, are. Member and public information, Henry Harrist of Wes Point, meets at 10 a.m.

May taxation, Walter Bridgforth of Yazoo City, meets noon, May education, Russell Bailey of Coffeeville, meets 10 a. May and resources and economic development, Donald J. Gray of Jackson, meets 10 a. May 14. Members from Jackson on the committees are: Member and public information--J.

John A. Hannah, chairman of the U. S. Commission on Civil Rights, has announced the appointment of Clarie Collins Harvey of Jackson as a member of the Mississippi State Advisory Committee to the Commission. She is manager of the Collins Funeral Home in Jackson, received her BA from Spelman College in Atlanta and did graduate work at Columbia University and New York University.

She is national secretary of the General Board of Christian Social Concerns for the Methodist Church, a member of the Southern Regional Council, and secretary of the executive committee of the Mississippi Funeral Directors and Embalmers Association. She also is active in other civic and religious organizations within the community. The Mississippi State Advisory Committee is one of 51 such Advisory Committees established in each of the States and the District of Columbia, composed of citizens of standing who serve without compensation. The Committee provides. the U.

S. Commission with information concerning civil rights issues in the state.
