1 U) -Mississippi University's magic-legged Harol Lofton stomped off great hunks of yardage and three touchdowns today to push the Rebels to a 28-0 homecoming football victory over Louisiana State before 27,500 fans. It -was done to the accompaniment of all the pageantry and color usually connected with a homecoming football game as 1 Miss strictly put on a show both of the halftime and football variety. Harol Lofton, Brookhaven junior got the first three touchdowns on runs of three, one and five yards. The first climaxed a 19-yard drive after the recovery of an LSU fum- that group of Louisiana lads got offensive ideas. Doggett returned Tulane and completed seven for 184-yards.

Tulane's forward wall, an early season soft spot, showed great determination in holding State's hard runners fairly well in check. Halfbacks Norm Duplain and Zerk Wilson, usually steady gainers for State, managed to gain only 49 yards. Wilson had 19 and 30 yards. Tulare, with McGee out early, had to call upon two halfbacks, Kennedy and Bailey to carry the burder. They gained almost 200-yards between them.

It was a battering, bruising game, but cleanly waged, a game that didn't produce a single star And it was a game hhat left 25,000 fans l'mp frcm excitement. Tulane coach Raymond (Bear) Wolf was as happy as his plavers after the game. "I'm sure proud of the comeback our boys made in the second half. I particularly liked Clement's selection of plays. Tulane spotted Mississippi State a 14-13 halftime lead and then blazed back with a tremendous thrust that dashed aside Maroon chances for a Southeastern Conference upset.

Driving from the opening mo ment, Tulane rolled into a 13-0 first quarter led only to see it wither away after two Mississippi State touchdowns in the next period. Tulane, showing tremendous power on the ground, punched across two touchdowns in the third period and one in the fourth. Mississippi State scored its third touchdown in the third quarter. 'It was a team victory for Tulane, a rough, tough team that had won its last two conference starts. It was Mississippi State's third conference loss and it seemed to destine the Maroons for a second division finish.

Tulane's outstanding performers were too numerous to count on a single hand. Quarterback Pete Clement and halfbacks Roy Bailey, Les Kennedy and Ray Weidenbacher were consistent threats throughout the battering game which saw seven Tulane players helped from the field.
