Some days are so bad that the above two suggestions might not help. These are times when we need close friends. Share with them your feelings of disappoint-' ment or hurt. Do not go through life pretending that everything is always all right. Let those close to you see both your good and down times.

Real friends will want to share in both. Ho one enjoys a "Manic Monday." Yet there are ways to make it through a day like that. The future is always near, holding new possibilities and options. If we can make the best of bad days and learn from what they teach us, better times will soon come our way. (Your comments ae welcome always and may be used in future columns.

This group is a new, all-female band and the song is their first hit. The group seems to know what it takes to be successful in the music business, having recorded one of Christopher's songs. In case you do not recognize this writer's name, he is one of rock's biggest stars, Prince. The song suggests escaping into daydreams as the best way to endure such a day. Perhaps daydreams can temporarily distract our attention and feelings, but sooner or later the reality of what is happening will resurface.

However, we can find constructive ways to help us get through bad days. First and foremost, try to keep your sense of humor. This helps to provide perspective and to see beyond one day. Your whole future will not be lost by one unhappy day. Changing your focus also can help.

For example, if you find yourself down because of failing a test, go out after school and do something completely different. Try exercising, for instance. This releases emotional and mental tension. What you actually do is not the question, as Youth Elizabeth Torltne, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
