Coles was graduated from Dickinson College in 1897 and its law school in 1900. He was an independent and first won prominence for his part in the movement for a new city charter in 1917. Surviving are two brothers, Lester A. and Horace P. Mrs.

Coles, the former Sarah Marvel, died in 1949. Services will be held at 2 P. M. Wednesday at the Boyd Funeral Home, 718 Swede Norristown. Burial will be in Norris Cemetery, Norristown.
