Mark Church, St. Mark's, Sunday, Aug. 18, at 7 p.m. Featured will be an organ dedication recital presented by organist Mary Kay Martin and the St. Mark parish choir.

The original organ at St. Mark's was purchased in 1926 from the Hinners Organ Company, Pekin, Illinois, with funds raised by parish sausage suppers. Several years ago, James O. Harms, organ builder, whose firm is located in Hesston, was contacted about working on the organ. The result of this contact is an essentially new organ completed in 1985.

For historical and sentimental reasons, the case of the original organ. was used intact. Also, many parts of the 1926 organ were modified for use in the new instrument in the effort to hold down expenses. The present organ was designed, crafted and voiced by Harms. It is larger than the previous organ and, according to Harms, "the new sound is rich and full in the of organs around 1860." Members of the parish donated time and labor especially at the time of the new organ's installation.

The recital is being dedicated to the memory of Agnes Meyer, whose legacy to St. Mary parish has made many improvements to the parish plant possible.
