11. Joint operations by the French and Spanish forces against Abdel-Krlm's rebellious Riffs in Mo rocco will be started this afternoon according to advices received here to. day from Madrid. The first effort will be to straighten out the Franco-Span lh front line In the region of Laracho. This In effect is the Franco-Spanish reply to Krlm's rejection of the Joint proposals for a discussion of peace terms.

It may be taken as the forerunner of a determined campaign against the Riffs, the details for which have all been carefully formulated as a result of Marshal Pctain's recent tour of Inspection through Morocco, Abd-el Krlm's rejection of the pro. posal for a discussion of peace terms occasioned little surprise. The Rifflan leader's rejection of peace overtures was received from General Prlmo De Riviera, who recelv. ed It from an emissary coming directly from Abd-el Krlm. Krlm declared he could not discuss peace until the Independence of the Riff Is acknowldeged.

Mother and Mud Lakes Drainage Projects Before County Board Tuesday The Hennepin county commissioners will hold a special meeting next Tues day to consider the Mother Lake drain age project. The Mother Lake Drain age association proposes the drainage of Mother lake and Mud lake Into Lake Nokomls by means of drain line and a pumping station. The estimated cost is $60,000 to be assessed on the affected property owners. Many residents of Richfield and farmers near Mud lake are opposed' to the project, according to statements made before the board yesterday. It is feared that the project also may drain Diamond lake.
