Station GM Roger LaMay says the Archer-Ward pairing is the only all-female anchor team in the Philadelphia market, where boy-girl pairs predominate, and boy-boy matches aren't unheard of. LaMay says he didn't set out to make history, but that Ward and Archer just clicked. "They were the pair that worked," he said. Archer has anchored the 6:30 program since its debut in April, 1996.

Ward, 40, joined the station in October as a freelance reporter, after anchoring at KYW from 1991 to 1994.
