Taylor, Retired Broker, Is Dead at 87 John C. Taylor, retired president of the Wagner-Taylor insurance brokers, died yesterday at a nursing home after a long illness. He was 87. Mr. Taylor, whose home was in Melrose Park, served for nearly 40 years as head of the insurance brokerage firm at 308 Walnut which was founded by his father after the Civil War.

A native Philadelphian, he attended the public schools here and Central High School, and thereafter entered the family business, working his way up from office boy. During his long career he was a nationally known figure in the insurance business. At various times before his retirement he was chairman of the Cheltenham Township Civil Service Commission; president of the Cheltenham Police. Pension Fund; a director United Firemen's Insurance the Warren Ehret Co. and the Union League, and a member of the Masonic order and of the Penn Athletic Club.

His wife, the former Helen G. Brenniser, died in 1950. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Mary B. Stover and Mrs.

Helen G. Mattox; four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. MRS. WILBUR W. FISH, wife of a Broomall builder, died unexpectedly Wednesday at he home, 301 Netherington drive.

She was 40. The former Elizabeth K. Kresge, she is also survived by four daughters, Margo, Jeanne, Karen and Betsy, and her father, Arthur B. Kresge. Services will be held at 11 A.

M. tomorrow at Frankenfield and Chadwick funeral home, Simpson and Athens Ardmore. ALFRED A. BORTH, of 7504 Vernon Melrose Park, died Wednesday in the Einstein Medical Center. He was 53 and was in the home furnishings business at 140 N.

10th st. His wife, Reba Pleet Borth, and two daughters, Mrs. Anne B. Herman Deborah Borth, survive him. Services will be held at 11 A.

M. today in the Joseph Levine and Sons Memorial Chapel, 7112 N. Broad st. E. WEBSTER STRINGFIELD, a resident of Philadelphia for many years, died yesterday in Newport News, Va.

16 H. Bell, veteran newspaperman and former head of the public information department of Pennsylvania State University, died in New York City tonight. He was 52. University officials received news of Mr. Bell's death by telephone from New York, where he had gone on business.

Death apparently was caused by a heart attack, the officials said. Mr. Bell was graduated from Penn State and worked as a newspaperman near his native Chester before returning to the university to teach journalism 25 years ago. He was named director of public information in 1943, a position he held until last July, when he quit on the advice of his physician. Since July he had been teaching journalism on a part basis.

Mr. Bell is survived by his wife, Catherine, and four chil- George Taylor, Retired Banker, Succumbs at 62 George Francis Taylor, retired assistant vice president of the Bankers Trust New York, and former head of that banking firm's Philadelphia, office, died yesterday Pont Memorial Hospital, Wilmington, Del. He was 62. Mr. Taylor served as manager of the Philadelphia office of the New York banking institution from 1930 to 1942, when the office closed.

Thereafter, until the time of his retirement several years ago, he was the chief representative here for the Bankers Trust Co. Surviving are his wife, the former Lillian Helms; two daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Goshorn, of Berwyn, and Charlotte Taylor, of Rock Hall, two sisters and a brother. si Funeral services will be held privately tomorrow at the Mauger funeral home, Malvern. THOMAS, who retired as a telegrapher from the Reading Railroad 19 years ago, died Wednesday in Germantown Hospital. He was 84 and lived at 1825 68th ave. Mr. Thomas is vived by one son, Harry, of Erie; three grandsons and two granddaughters, and one daughter. Services be held great at 1 P.

RANKIN, who Obituary tired as Jenkintown police chief in 1935, died Monday in Abington Memorial Hospital. He was 65 and lived on Waverly Wyncote. Following his retirement, he served as a Montgomery county detective and as a county prison guard. Surviving are his wife, Louise; six daughters, Mrs. Harry Mrs.

MRS. GEORGE BLAIR, a widow whose paintings of miniatures were displayed the Philadel phia Museum of Art, died in Wednesday in Pennsylvania Hospital. She was 64 and lived at 1843 Old Gulph Villanova. Her husband was a former vice president of the National Phone System. Surviving are a daughMrs.

Herbert Davison, chairman of the board of the Hightstown Rug Hightstown, N. died Tuesday in Princeton Hospital. He was 75. A resident of Princeton for many years, Mr. Davison was active in community and church activities both there and in Hightstown.

Additionally, he served as president of the Hightstown Trust Co. from 1923 to 1331. He was a member of the board of corporators of Peddie School, was president of the Mercer county YMCA and served on the board of the Westminster Choir School. An active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Princeton, he was once superintendent of the sunday school there. He also was a member Masonic Lodge 41; the Nassau Club, of Princeton and the Union League, New York.

Mr. Davison is survived by his wife, the former Ella Anderson; a son, Herbert and a daughter, Mrs. John P. Chubet, 3d. Services will be held at P.
