Being a member of your fan club for so many years, I'd like to make a "dues" payment by telling you how manage to keep a little order in my kitchen cupboards.

My secret is glass jars! like to keep my staple supplies in glass jars, as I can at a glance how much there is in the jar and when to buy more if the supply is running low. The jars can be sealed tight against moisture and most insects. When I empty a full package of any staple, which I buy in the size most convenient for me, like to use a jar size that will hold all the contents of that package. One of those gallonsized pickle jars will the contents of a five- pound sack of four. The half-gallon canning jars will hold a two- pound bag of brown sugar, full box of oatmeal or a five- pound bag of white sugar, For other foods which I do want to keep on hand, but which I either don't use too much of at time of don't use too often (like salt or cornstarch, rice or tapioca), I use the quart- or the pint-sized jars.

Some products are put up in jars with lids that will fit most jars. I cherish those. They come in bright colors and help me identify certain things. Red lids indicate leftovers in the refrigerator that ought to be used very soon. Green lids indicate the staples that I use most frequently, and so on.
