Lou "Groza, who missed two field goals, kicked a pair and added four extra points.

Ralph Pasquariello, ex-Villanovan, bucked over from the one. BLANDA PACES BEARS George Blanda paced the Bears with a 15-yard field goal in the first quarter, a 40-yarder in the last and three extra points. Johnny Lujack's pass set up one second-quarter touchdown and Steve Romanik, another ex-Villanovan, passed seven yards to Don Kindt for a six-pointer 30 seconds before the half ended. The Bears added 10 more points in the second, their touchdown coming after Bill Dudley fumbled a punt.

The Bears defense did a magnificent job of containing Sammy Baugh's aerials. The Rams' Waterfleld tossed to Elroy Hirsch on a 76-yard scoring play in the final quarter to put his team ahead, 20-16, and then added a field goal from the 38. In the second period Bob kicked one from the 39 to give his team a 3-0 lead. They added a touchdown later in the quarter, Waterneld bucking over from the one. PERRY RUNS 53 The 4Sers scored on Joe Perry's 58-yard run and Waterfield's second field goal (from the 20) made it 13-7 at halltime.

Frank Albert engineered a drive which tied the score at 13-all and Jim Cason's interception set up Gordon Soltau's 11-yard field goal early in the final period to give the 49ers a 16-13 edge. Then back came Waterfleld. Green Bay and Detroit matched first-half field goals and Thomason began his streak at the start of the second half, but the Lions led 10-3 after three periods on Bobby Layne's five-yard pass to Leon Hart. Johnny Michelosen will continue as coach of Pittsburgh's Steelers at least the rest of the season, co-owner Art Rooney said tonight. Rooney scoffed at reports that he planned a coaching change. Asked whether Earl (Greasy) Neale, former Eagles' coach, who sat with him at today's game, was being considered for the job, Rooney declared "Greasy came here on his own. He phoned me from somewhere in West Virginia last Thursday and asked me to have tickets set aside for the Eagle game It was purely a social visit." Neale couldn't be reached for comment.
