A memorial service was held Thursday. Lorenzen Mortuary in Reseda handled the arrangements. Obituaries -John P. Dieterich; Retired Dr. John Pershing Dieterich, a longtime Glendale allergist, has died at his Glendale home.

He was 72. Dieterich died Monday of cancer, according to a family friend. A Glendale native and the son of a physician, Dieterich completed his undergraduate work at USC and graduated from the USC School of Medicine. During World War II, he served as a captain in the U.S. Army Medical Corps.

After he was discharged, Dieterich opened a practice in Glendale in the late 1940s. He had been a staff member of Glendale Memorial, Behrens and Verdugo Hills hospitals and retired in 1985. Dieterich was a member of the American College of Allergy and -Michael King; Retired Michael King, a retired actor who also worked as a puppeteer and lighting technician, has died at his Tarzana home. He was 69. King died Monday of a heart attack, said his daughter, Deborah Hayes of Sylmar.

Born Richard C. Wegener in Brooklyn, King appeared in several Broadway shows such as "Young Man's Fancy," "Hellzapoppin" and "Catherine Was Great" with Mac West. After serving in the Army during World War Il, he became a puppeteer and worked on 'children's television programs including "Pixie Playtime" and "Howdy Bell, Mark Anthony, 20, of Pacoima, student at Pierce College.
