Customers can buy one out- right made from fur supplied by Andritz's company for $80, or have their old fur coats recycled into a family heirloom for $50. Lace collars, hats or vests can be added on request. "I also have recently designed a bunny rabbit that can be made of real fur and plan on adding more animals to my family," she said. The bear's eyes are crystal and noses are plastic. Call 269-5322 or e-mail her at Andritzdigital.net.

Palm Bay artist Nita Shields said she can recycle unwanted furs and give them new life by handcrafting teddy bears. Shield's bears are fully-jointed with hardboard disks and rivets and fully-lined and filled with polyester fiber. They wear crocheted collars or wired French ribbon bows and sport embroidered noses, Ultrasuede paws and glass eyes. Customers can choose from four sizes and prices: a 10-inch bear for $80; 12-inch for $90; 15-inch for $110; and an antique-style bear of 20 inches for $140. Simply mail the furs to Shields at 1650 Emmaus Road N.W., Palm Bay, FL 32907, along with your name, address, phone number and number of bears desired.

Shields can HELP! determine how many bears can be made from your fur. You will be notified when your bears are ready, in about four weeks. You can send your money order or check at that time. Your order will be shipped postage-paid. For information, call 951-2207.

Rita Glosser of Longboat Key and owner of ReMinkie Bears will convert those old stoles, jackets or coats into a cuddly teddy bear. For more information, call (800) 3REMINK. The mailing address is P.O. Box 8333, Longboat Key, FL 34228. Glosser uses fur to make fully-jointed teddy bears in four sizes, from 12 to 20 inches.

If you supply the fur, the cost is approximately $159 for mink. Add $10 for Persian lamb, beaver, leopard or fox, because these are more difficult to work with. "If there are initials in the lining of the piece, we take the initials and put it on the paw pad of the bear for a slight additional charge," she said. Space Coast Diary lists public information filed with agencies. Information was from Brevard County Carl Kristen Nylander, 46, Roy, Utah, and Sherry Lynn Franklin, 41, Roy.
