The band Is promising "multimedia technology that will leave you mesmerized." Kevin Westenberg EMI Records ii iiiiii.i i- r- Tickets go on sale this week for four new shows at the Meadows Music Theatre, the Hartford amphitheater set to open next month. Tickets go on sale Saturday for shows by Queensryche with Type 0 Negative July 22, the Allman Brothers Band with Rusted Root Aug. 5, and an alternative music lineup second only to Lollapalooza, Live with PJ.

Harvey and Veruca Salt Sept. 10. Queensryche is the latest band reserving a special area for tapers. The band is also promising "multi-media technology that will leave you mesmerized." Monday, tickets go on sale for a special performance by James Taylor on July 16, performing his music as backed by the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra conducted by Marvin Hamlisch. It's one of just five performances he's doing this summer.

The new announcments bring to 14 the number of shows on sale for the venue, set to open in just over five weeks. Announcements about shows by Elton John, Reba McEntire, and Carry Simon with Hall Oates are imminent. the Invaders and Chisel. An early show Sunday features Sylph, Flood No. 9, Radio Pill and Bet on Silence.

More ska comes next June 9 with the Secret Cajun Band, Spicy Gribblets and Sgt. Scagnetti. A second rockabilly show June 10 features the Royal Crowns, the Hi Fi Roadburners, Speedball Baby and the Turbo ACs, and Baby Drowsy. The Blue Mean-ies invade June 11 with the Friggs, Mock Turtle Soup and Nevergreen. Jasta 14 headlines a record release party June 16 with Tyrant Trooper, Dismay, Vision of Disorder and Cast Iron Hike.

FOLK POSTINGS The Iron Horse Music Hall in Northampton, will go dark Monday following its Garnet Rogers show Sunday. The current owners have so far been unsuccessful in trying to sell the nationally noted club, but one deal on the table would continue the club and reopen it much the same way as early as August. That deal looks optimistic enough that co-owner Craig Blaine has called off the planned auction of the club's effects. Phil Ochs' music will be celebrated in a Sunday concert at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, organized in part by Och's sister Sonny. The songwriter died in 1976 but was one of the most influential voices of the 1960s folk era.

More than a dozen artists will take part, each including an Ochs song in their set as a salute to the man who wrote "Draft Dodger Rag." Sally Rogers and Howie Bursen, Rob Carlson, Lui Collins, Greg Greenway, Kim and Reggie Harris, Pat Humphries, Magpie, Donna Martin, Kate McDonnell, Faith Petric and Nancy Tucker will all perform in the show, a benefit for campus station WSHU-FM. Tickets are $10 and $7.50. Susan McKeon and Chanting House perform Saturday at the Art Guild of Farmington. WHAT'S NEW Goo Goo Dolls in an all ages show June 2 1 311 in an all ages show July 19. A June 18 date by Government Mule, the side project of Warren Haynes and Allen Woody from the Allman Brothers Band, has been cancelled.

Ronnie Earl the Broadcasters returns to the Arch Street Tavern in Hartford June 10. Mudhoney's closest stops will come at the Avalon in Boston June 14, Lupo's Heartbreak Hotel in Providence June 14 and Tramps in New York June 16. General Public plays the Strand in Providence July 9 and the Limelight in New York Tuesday. The Johnny "Clyde" Copeland benefit at the Blue Star Cafe in Hartford Sunday was an artistic success but only managed to raise $700 for the ailing bluesman awaiting a heart transplant. Further contributions can be sent to Johnny Copeland's Heart, co Manny's Car Wash, 1558 Third New York, NY 10128.

The James Montgomery Band plays the Blue Star Friday; the Magneatos play a Special Olympics benefit there Saturday night. James Montgomery also plays a motorcycle swap meet Sunday in Portland, with the Hornets and a tattoo competition. Total Chaos plays the Tune Inn in New Haven Friday with Battalion of Saints, Brutally Familiar, Weston and Ugly Truth. A ska fest Saturday features J.C. Superska, (on sale Monday).

The summer schedule at the Charles Ives Center in Danbury includes Donna Summer July 1, the Spinners and the Marve-lettes July 22, a two-day jazz fest featuring McCoy fyner Trio, Dave Koz and Kurt Elling Aug. 5 and Grover Washington Bela Fleck the Flecktones and Tuck Patti Aug. 6, Manhattan Transfer Aug. 19, Jim Messina with New Riders of the Purple Sage and John Sebastian Aug. 26 and Diamond Rio Sept.

2. John Hiatt, Suzanne Vega, Terrance Si-mien, Keb' Mo', Pele Juju and the Unknown Blues Band are among the performers at this year's all-day Ben Jerry's One World One Heart Festival in Sugarbush Resort in Warren, Vt. on June 24. It's free. The Marvelettes and the Drifters play Friday at Fairfield University's Quick Center for the Arts in a benefit for Family Services Woodfield.

IN THE CLUBS It's going to be a strange summer for Geezer Butler and Lemmy. The Black Sabbath and Motorhead tour which also plays the Great Woods in Mansfield, Mass. on July 13, will also play much smaller indoor clubs such as the 700-capaci-ty Toad's Place in New Haven June 29, and the Sting in New Britain (capacity 1,200) on July 15. Also added to the Toad's schedule are the One of the last surviving bands of the British Invasion, Rock and Roll Hall of Famers the Kinks play the Oakdale Theatre in Wallingford July 22. A more traditional performer, Wayne Newton, has been added for an Aug.

20 show. Tickets for both shows go on sale June 10, as does a Joe Diffie and Billy Dean show announced for July 1. Who could have pictured this a year ago? The biggest rock star to ever come out of Mansfield, plays Mansfield, Aug. 2 as Weezer headlines Great Woods in a show with Teenage Fan Club and That Dog. Tickets go on sale Saturday at 2 p.m.

Tickets also go on sale Saturday for a Dave Matthews Band show there Aug. 31 with Dionne Farris.
