Mr. and Mrs. Brown, Longview Musicians, Have Attractive Studios Collecting antiques is the hobby. of Mr. and Mrs.

W. Millar Brown, Longmusiclans. Their music studios view are among the loveliest in East Tex'as. One, studio is decorated in, the manner--with beautiful hand-carved, furniture, lovely Bisque old Go- and Parian figurines, and dey fashion prints. This: studio is equipped with.

two grand pianos. Isabel Silvio Scionti, internationally known. duo-pianists often stop on "their tours to practice on these pianos. Another studio, in the Moderne mode, has a lovely upright done in white ornamented with piano gold cherubs and arabesques. The little children adore taking their lessons on this piano.

The reception room is decorated in the neo-classic manner with its white porcelain figures. Madame Recantier sofa and furniture done in white damask. A bust of Mozart on a white column dominates this room. Everything is done to create the right atmosphere to perform lovely music. A competent maid is in charge here.

Their library music literature contains not only works from the American publishers but many editions are from Echaniz, Cuban pianst, on his visit to the Brown studios said it was the most complete library he had- seen and. spent several hours playing over some: scores, he had been to procure. Throughout their careers, Mr. and Mrs. Brown have made contacts with the leading musicians of this country.

During his student days. Brown. supered in the Chicago opera and there. met Schipa. Galli-Curci.

Mary Garden and others, Moissave Bogus.Jawski and Madame Ely Ney were among the visitors at his studio there. Mrs. Brown's association with Dr. teacher of Nelson Eddy and others, has been a source of pleasure to her, and her pupils, Helen Traubel, Metropolitan opera star, has been a friend of many years standing beginning with their student davs in Madarhe Vetta-Karst's studio. The insniration and enthusiasm received from these contacts, they transfer to their pupils.

Harmony Club Meets To Study Value Of Deeds, Wills, Securities The Harmony Home Demonstration club met at the home of Mrs. J. W. League, Friday, Sept. 1.

This summer she studied modern piano harmony and also studied piCano accordion in Los 'Angeles. She attended lectures by Beranrd Warness, authority pre-school music and' advanced harmony. Mrs. Whitelock class or private lessons overcoming theoretical problems in an easy and interesting manner. She specializes in classic.

TOmantic. and modern. music. and through knowledge of scales, chords and arneggios encourages her pupils to build un memorized repertoires. Mrs.

'Whitelock uses ensemble, grace tice which is tremendoulsv valuable if artistic as well as accurate playing is made the objective. whether in the form of duets or trios at one piano or -arrangements for two or more Interest is enhanced, confidence gained and acquaintance with material which might he too difficult in solo form. is provided. Reading is definitely aided. while principles of rhythm and interpretation are naturally introduced.

Many: of Mrs. -Whiteiock's pupils won national, district and state chonors in the national tournament held here -in 1936-1937 and five won national honors. A large number of Mrs. Whitelock's former pupils are successfulpianists, organists. and accompanists.

Clemons of Gilmer, became the bride of Mr. J. D. Jones, son of Mr. and Mrs.

W. B. Jones of Garrison. The wedding took place in the Methodist parsonage in Longview with the Rev. Fred Few reading the impressive ring ceremony.

Their only attendants were Mr. and Mrs. M. Jones, of Garrison, brother and sister of the groom, The bride wore a stone blue ensemble with wine and -navy accessories. Mrs.

Jones moved to Hallsville sev eral years: ago from Gilmer and operates the Tru-Art Beauty shop. Mr. Jones is a contractor being employed with the Garrison Lumber company. After a short honeymoon Mr. and Mrs.

Jones will be at: home -in Hallsville in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert. Bass. Robert L.
