16-H Thursday, Oct 1, 1992 The Philadelphia Inquirer POLICE REPORT Joe The Italian Family Bistro The incident, reported Sept. 23, involved damage estimated at $1,000 to $6,000. Vintage baseball cards, valued at $50,000, were reported stolen from the front seat of a van parked at 1656 Old York Rd. between 1:45 and 2 p.m. Friday.

The cards belong to a sports cards dealer. Drunken-driving charges were filed against three people. Each was to be sent a summons for a preliminary hearing. Jaroslaw Traczuk, 42, of the 300 block of Tennis Avenue, North Hills, was arrested after his car was for making abrupt movements on Bradfield Road, near Tyson Avenue, about 2.05 a.m. Sunday.

Po- lice said Traczuk's car was tracked down after a report was received of a possible drunken driver at Bradfield and Susquehanna Roads. Traczuk had the odor of alcohol, glassy eyes and slurred speech, police said. His blood-alcohol content was measured at 0.102 percent on a breath test; state law prohibits driving with an alec- hoi level of 0.100 percent or more. tie also was cited for careless driving. Hatboro A drunken-driving charge was filed against Jacques Willett, 45, of the 7900 block of Serpentine Lane, Elkins Park, after he was stopped for going through a red, light on York Road near Fulmer Avenue about 3 a.m. Sunday. Police said Willett failed a field sobriety test and registered 0.20 percent blood-alcohol content on a breath test at the Montgomery County processing center in Abington; state law prohibits driving with an alcohol level of 0.10 percent or more. He was to be sent a summons for a preliminary hearing before District Justice Gloria Morgan. Horsham Stolen construction supplies, valued at more that $40,000, were recovered by police about 1:30 p.m.

Saturday at a residence on Limekiln Pike. All the items were new and had been stolen recently in the area, police said. Police gave this account: Based on information from an informant, a search warrant was obtained. Seized at the residence were about 80 4-by-8-foot pieces of plywood, 56 4-by-8-foot particle boards, 100 pieces of insulation, 11 doors, 14 windows and 20 rolls of felt paper, plus other items. Jenkintown Charges of aggravated assault and drunken driving were filed against Andrew Poindexter, 38, of the 1000 block of East Vernon Road, Philadelphia, at 1:55 a.rri.

Sept. 23. Police gave this account: Poin-dexter's van struck a curb on Washington Lane, near Township Line Road, and when police attempted to stop the vehicle it accelerated. After the van was stopped and Poindexter was arrested, he became violent, police said, and attempted to reach in his pocket during a struggle. A knife was found in his pocket.

Poindexter also was charged with simple assault, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, harassment and two motor-vehicle violations. He was arraigned before District Justice Michael Richman and was released after posting 10 percent of $5,000 bail. A preliminary hearing was to be scheduled. Theft charges were filed against Brian Combs, a.k.a. John Doe, 23, of the 5000 block of Belmar Terrace, Philadelphia, after he was accused of attempting to buy a rare bird, valued at $1,164, with the credit card number of a deceased person.

Police gave this account: Combs called Martin's Aquarium, 101 Old York about 6 p.m. Sept. 21 and ordered the bird, giving a credit card number and a false name and ad- i- i Easton Road Keswick Avenue, Glenside, PA Police Blotter Unless otherwise attributed, the following reports are based on statements of municipal police. Abington Theft charges were filed against four juveniles and Michael Joseph Berardine, 20, of the 900 block of Cricket Avenue, Ardsley, on Sept. 23.

They are accused of being involved in a five-month crime spree during which nine cars were reported stolen and items were reported stolen from about 40 vehicles parked in the Ardsley and Glenside areas. Police said one of the juveniles was arrested on the morning of Aug. 18 after a stolen car he was driving was involved in an accident. Investigation led to the arrest of the four others, police said. All of the stolen vehicles and much of the stolen property was recovered, police said.

Each of the five was charged with various counts of theft, receiving stolen property, criminal conspiracy and criminal mischief. At his arraignment, Berardine waived his right to a preliminary hearing. He was released, after posting bail to await action by Montgomery County Court. The juveniles were referred to county Juvenile Court. Minor injuries were suffered by Doris Lange, 41, of the 300 block of East Sixth Avenue, Conshohocken, in a two-car accident on York Road about 11:20 a.m.

Police said Lange was a passenger in a car driven by Hilary Blust, 28, of the 2900 block of Gohn Drive, Willow Grove, that was rear-ended while stopped for a red light at Horace Avenue. The other car was driven by Joan P. Fizzell, 45, of the 400 block of Tupelo Grove, Ambler.

No citations were issued. Tools, valued at $717.60, were reported stolen from an open garage in the 200 block of Church Road between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Sept. 20.

A 1991 Toyota Camry was reported stolen from the third-level parking area of the Willow Grove Park mall between 2:30 and 3:30 p.m. Sept. 21. A cellular phone, valued at $900, and $15 were reported stolen from a house in the 100 block of Susan Drive between 12:01 and 7:30 a.m. Sept.

23. Police said a picnic bench was used to gain entry through a kitchen window while the residents were asleep upstairs. A 1989 Chrysler, valued at $10,000, was reported stolen from the first level of the Willow Grove Park mall between 12:15 and 2 p.m. Sunday. The owner said 12 golf clubs, valued at a total of $800, and two suits, together valued at $1,000, were in the car.

A 1990 Jeep Cherokee, valued at $18,000, was reported stolen from the 2300 block of Tague Avenue, Glenside, between 9 p.m. Thursday and 3 a.m. Friday. About 388 headstones were reported overturned or otherwise damaged i fit Montefiore Cemetery, I Church Road and Borbeck Avenue i block of Old York Road, was arrested after his car caught fire at Township Line and York Roads. about 1:15 a.m.

Sunday. Police said Ciavardone had a strong odor of alcohol and slurred speech, and he resisted being handcuffed. He refused to take a breath-alcohol test, which calls for automatic loss of driver's license for one year. He also was charged with resisting arrest, public drunkenness, disorderly conduct and driving without a license. Francis Malatesta, 22, of the 700 block of Penn Avenue, Ardsley, was arrested after he drove through a blockedoff area in the 600 block of Central Avenue about 2:05 a.m.

Saturday. After his car nearly hit a parked vehicle, police said, Malatesta continued traveling in reverse. When he was stopped at Woodrow Avenue, he had an odor of alcohol and failed field sobriety tests. He registered 0.117 percent on a breath-alcohol test. He also was cited for careless driving.

Cheltenham A man armed with a snub-nosed revolver held up a teenage couple in the south parking lot of Cheltenham Square Mall about 10:30 p.m. Friday. Police said the man took a leather jacket and wallet from the hoy and earrings from the girl. He then ran east on Cheltenham Avenue. In a strong-arm robbery, three men stole a pair of gold-framed glasses, valued at $279, from a male teenager in the Cheltenham Square parking lot about 11:20 p.m.

Saturday. The victim told police the three ran south toward Philadelphia. A 1988 Pontiac Grand Am was reported stolen from the 300 block of Mount Carmel Avenue after 4:30 p.m. Sept. 21.

A 1990 Oldsmobile Regency was reported stolen from the 8100 block of Hawthorne Lane before 8 a.m. Sept. 23, after someone broke into the owner's house and took the keys. Police said the house was entered through a side window. A diamond engagement ring, valued at $6,500, was reported stolen from a unit at the 1121 Brookview PlaceJ service for 4 now just service for 8 now just 25 6pc.

The credit card belonged to a deceased person from New Jersey, police said. Combs was charged with theft by deception, criminal attempt at theft, unauthorized use of a credit card, receiving stolen property, criminal conspiracy and unsworn falsification.
