General Motors made another all-time highJ Chrysler, at its best, stood at its highest price in eight years and nearly matched its historic crest of 1955-reaching 101 before sinking back to close unchanged. The all-time top for Chrysler--which sold as low as 38 JJ last year--was 101 ',j. The market was exploiting the "breakout" it made expected report by the Securities i Exchange Commission Wednesday vas added positive good news -- the biggest monthly drrp'in unemployment in more than four years. News of record department store sales in March also helped bolster sentiment. · The Dow Jones Industrial Average made a substantial gain of 6.61 to close at 697.12. its highest closing level since April 6. 1962 when it dosed at 699.63. Volume swelled to 531 million shares from Wednesday's 4.66 million--largest since Feb. 14 when 5.64 million shares changed hands.
