Wednesday Morning, September 27, 1978 Z\\t flatly 13-A MH-MR Sets Seminar Here On Mental Retardation The Gulf Coast Regional Mental Health and Mental Retardation Center, in conjunction with the research and training center at Texas Tech University, will sponsor a two-day seminar in Galveston on "Improving Programming with Mentally Retarded and Other Developmentally Disabled Persons." Set for today and Thursday at the Holiday Inn. the seminar will feature nationally recognized specialists in the field of mental retardation, ac- cording to Michael Muegge. residential service director at MHMR. The orientation focuses on the severely handicapped and the use of behavior modification for more effective results. Lectures and audiovisuals will be supplemented by interest group discussions. "Citizens of this area who could benefit from this seminar are teachers, administrators and those working with mentally disabled persons," Muegge said. Parham is associate director of the Research and Training Center and director of training as well as being an adjunct professor in psychology and special education at Texas Tech University.
