Team removed from playoffs PITTSBURGH (AP) — The Pittsburgh Catholic Diocese withdrew Central Catholic High School from all postseason football games Monday, less than a week after two teenagers were charged with sexually assaulting a teammate in a locker room. The diocese notified the Western Pennsylvania Interscholaslic Athletic League that the school would withdraw from competition immediately. A 16-year-old and a 15-year-old were charged last week with sexually assaulting a 15-year-old teammate in what police have described as a hazing. Both students charged in the assault were suspended from school pending the investigation. Because of the students' ages, their identities were not released. Police said the assault occurred on Aug. 15 following football practice. The two teens who were charged pinned the other boy down and touched his face with their genitals, police said. The boy's head was also shaved. Other players in the locker room at the Lime said they did not witness the assault. The 15-year-old who was allegedly assaulted quit the team and has transferred to another school. Central Catholic qualified third of the four qualifiers from the Quad East Conference. No team will take Central's place, and Woodland Hills will skip the first round.
