Patrick Bauer, D-South Bend, has rejected the St. Joseph County Park Board's offer of $85,000 for land he purchased for $25,000 in 1973. The bid is ridiculous, Bauer said Monday. "I am not going to be bullied. This will be resolved in a legal manner, so the board might as well stop running to the press with these statements." Bauer and the board have been involved in a five-year legal battle over the price of a tract of land near Spicer Lake wanted for a nature preserve. Grenade Kills Son Of Trooper FAIRVIEW, Ind. (AP) - The son of state trooper died of carbon monoxide poisoning after an incendiary grenade exploded inside his pickup truck, police said. Huntzinger, a senior at Delta High School, was found dead Sunday morning inside his pickup truck near Fairview. Huntzinger was the son of state police Cpl. Larry Huntzinger, a public information officer at the Redkey post. ' 'We're believing it to be accidental right now," Culbertson said. "We believe the grenade was, in some fashion, accidentally detonated, which created a flash fire inside the truck," Culbertson said. Police Impersonator Sought In Rapes BROWNSBURG, Ind. (AP) - The third rape in a month has Hendricks County authorities wondering whether there's a link between assailants posing as policemen. The latest assault occurred Sunday of when a Danville woman was stopped while driving. She told police she was abducted and raped after she left a tavern. Investigators said the woman was driving west on U.S. 136 when she saw a car behind her flashing its bright lights and honking its horn. Believing the driver behind her was a policeman, the woman pulled over. The assailant, after pretending to test her for driving while intoxicated, abducted her and took her to a house where he raped her. He drove her back to her car and released her.
