Benguet a fraction Gulf Western dropped a couple of points. Eastman Kodak and Westinghouse Electric were off about a point. Fractional losses were taken by Goodyear, Boeing, DuPont. American Can, Control Data. Johns-Manville and U.S. Gypsum. Opening blocks included. Gulf Western, off 2Ya at -9 on 37,000 shares; Euromnd, ofE % at 24; and American Cyanamid, off Vs at 23V 4 . Trading during the morning centered about evening operations in nearby March contracts which expired on a final traded price of 31.42 cents a pound. This was $1.25 a bale under the previous close. H.40 N.40B Grai CHICAGO (AP) - Corn futures declined one cent a bushel on the Chicago Board of Trade Thursday but other grains and soybeans prices were irregular. There were several factors th'at tended to influence lower prices for com futures. The supply of corn at Chicago was more than adequate to meet nearby demands, hedge selling against purchases was relatively heavy and exports appeared to be at a low point for the week. Sellers of corn were more numerous than buyers. There was some buying for export on the downsoale but it was limited. Mixed 1-2 butchers scaling 195 to 2# pounds sold at 19.75 to 20.50 but 71 head of 200 to 225 pounders topped at 20.75 and 1-3S weighing 230 to 350 pounds went at 19.25 to 20.00 and 2-35 weighing 250 to 300 pounds sold at 18.25 to 19.50. Mixed 1-3 sosw scaling 350 to 4XK) pounds brought 17.50 to 18.00 and 2-3s weighing 400 to 550 pounds pounds brought 16.00 to 17.50. Cattle receipts totaled only 400 head and there were not enough slaughter steers or heifers on hand for an adequate test of the market. A part load of choice 975 paund slaughter steers brought 27.50 and two loads of mixed good and choice 850 to 925 pound slaughter heifers sold at 26.00. A few high yielding utility and commercial cowf. sold at 19.50 and «'lilv and commercial bulls brought 2C.JO to 24.00. Wooled slaughter lamb prices were fully steady and sheep receipts totaled 300 head. Around 200 head of choice and Prime 105 to 113 pound kinds went at 27.00. About .$60 million will'Jbe ipent on its new copper mine being developed at Tyrone '.M. Production there is expected o begin in mid-1969. The nune vill increase Phelps Dodge's production capacity by 55,000 ons o! copper annually. Phefps Dodge said in its annual report that the capital out- ay will require some borrowing his year. The company is completing arrangements to borrow up to $125 million before Dec. 31, 1970, under a revolving cred- t arrangement with a group of U.S. banks. Robert G. Page, chairman, and Geroge B.
