The Wall Street Journal figures these little theaters will take in 30 million admissions this year and form a strong competition for other forms of entertainment, with their Increasing professionalism. In the' Long Beach area, the use of professionals in major roles has been increasing in past years, with Magnolia Theater leading in this field. Lylc Talbot and Richard Erdman have appeared here frequently and others have been Juanita Moore and Robert Cornthwaite. Over in Torrance. the Chapel Theater play reading committee chair- will bring Fifi D'Orsay to the stage April 13 in "Gigi." "Southern California's Expanded Role in the Theater of America--19G2-'67" will be the theme of an all-day conference April 1-4 at the Santa Ynez Inn, Los Angeles. The meeting is called by the Los Angeles - Southern Cali forma Chapter of American National Theater and Acad cmy. The Greater · Los Angeles ANTA chapter is second only to the New York chapter in size.
