And then he sailed off into the sunset like the Lone Ranger, with not even a "Hiho Silver" to tell who he was. . Dr. Charles McClelland of Paris, 111., Dr. Walter Sprague, 34, of Whittier, Calif., and the two Mexican crewmen of their chartered fishing 'launch, were lost on the storm-tossed Pacific since Sunday, and were the object of one of the biggest sea hunts in Mazatlan memory. But they were found, not by the 60-boat search fleet, but by a passing American yachtsman. Authorities said the yachtsman would not give his name, and sailed off after towing the charter boat, the Bi-Bi 12, into Mazatlan, Sprague said the anonymous rescuer's 90-foot yacht was named the Gryphon, sailing out of Seattle, Wash. "We almost didn't get to see each other again, dear," said the bearded McClelland, as he stepped ashore Wednesday in Mazatlan into the arms of his weeping wife. McClelland told newsmen the charter boat's motor failed Sunday night and they drifted at ·the mercy of towering waves whipped up by a storm. The same storm Monday and T u e s d a y curled destructive winds through northwestern and central Mexico, breaking windows, toppling trees and unroof- ing houses. Thoresens Indicted On New Firearms Charge QAM TTIJ A Mr'TCfn / T T D T \ _ i t · · . . ^"^ SAN FRANCISCO (UPI) -Millionaire gun collector William E. Tboresen and his wife have been indicted again by a federal grand jury on charges of illegal interstate transportation of firearms and ammunition. Thoresen, 30, son of a Chicago steel company president, and his wife, Louise, 31, former Tuc- sonians, were arrested last spring after a raid on their Pacific Heights mansion. Federal agents sei2ed 77 tons of arms, including a cannon, submarine guns and antitank guns. The Thoresens were sequently indicted on 22 counts of illegal possession of weapons and failure to register them. Bpt the recent Haines decision of the U. S. Supreme Court declared unconstitutional federal laws requiring registration of illegal guns because such registration would constitute self-incrimination. The new indictment issued yesterday contained 10 counts and said it was illegal for Thoresen to transport various weapons interstate because he had previously been convicted of a crime punishable by imprisonment for more than one year. The indictment alleged that Mrs. Thoresen illegally transported weapons because at th« time of the San Francisco incident she was under indictment in New York on other gun charges. The case was scheduled hi U. S. District Court next Tuesday. ********** ************* TOP QUALITY MEAT AT LOW LOW PRICES. MONEY BACK GUARANTEED TENDER JUICY U.S.D.ft.
