Brown's sister launched her campaign for the - "Los Angeles School Board Wednesday by declaring X schools are-graduating students who can't "read, write ·; or qualify for a job." : ^ ,f · ' Kathleen Brown-Rice called for new priorities in "· school funding, saying school programs must be ac. .countable and "must produce results in order to contain ue being funded." She attacked her opponent, conservative, four-term " *, incumbent J.C. Chambers, as "a constant roadblock to change and innovation." · Later, she said she was against compulsory school ." r ; busing in-the city. Politics 2 districts set endorsement caucuses ByBOBHOUSER Political Editor ; Registered voters in the Second and, Fifth Long Beach City. .Council Districts will have the opportunity to. vote endorsements in community endorsement caucuses tonight. Five candidates have accepted speaking invitations for the Second District caucus at 7:30 in United Methodist Church, Third Street at Termino Avenue, ac- cording'to the sponsoring organization, Long Beach Area Citizens Involved, . . - . · . ' They are Sharon Shen, Robert .Shinn, Olivia Nieto, Marilyn Fuller and Wallace Edgerton. Sponsors said all other candidates are invited and may speak. Four candidates in the Fifth District have accepted invitations for. their caucus in Marshall Junior High School auditorium, 5870 Wardlow Rd. They are Dale Low- ell, John Cooley, Joann Richards and Dale Dykema. Other district candidates ?r? »)*n invited there. JOHNSON PARTY Wayne Johnson, Eighth District City Council candidate, will be honored at a $5 a person fund-raising cocktail party from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday in the Anetta Homer residence, 4408 Heather Rd. There will be a no-host bar, music and hors d'oeuvres. MORGAN EVENT Ron Morgan, Long Beach City Council candidate in the Seventh District, will be guest of honor at a $3 a person fund-raising cocktail party at 4 p.m. Sunday . at 2744 Adriatic Ave. CORRECTION Final endorsement session of the Seventh District Campaign Support Committee to select an endorsee in that district's Long Beach City Council special election will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday in the Westminster Community Presbyterian C h u r c h , 2474 Pacific Ave., not Saturday as reported earlier.
