Davis Booked In Houston Jail, To Get Special Cell uruiQTnM i1Tm\ . T-.__. _. -*- HOUSTON (UPI) - A tired-looking T. Cullen Davis Friday went through the common criminal procedure of being booked in the Harris County jail pending trial on charges of solicitation of capital murder. COUNTRY & WESTERN DANCE V.F.W. He appeared resigned to the change of venue which moved his trial from his home town. "I'm just as happy to come to Houston as any place I can think of," Davis told a crowd of reporters at the jail. "1 know the people of Fort Worth and I know they could give me a fair trial. But it won't be any worse here. It's just the inconvenience of moving." Davis was wearing a light gray suit and his hands were manacled in front of him. Officers said they had stopped for lunch on the outskirts of Houston before proceeding to the jail. Heard said Davis will have one of five "infamous prisoner" cells, which the sheriff emphasized will involve separate — but equal — treatment with other prisoners in the jail. "He will have to go through our classification system," Heard aid. "He'll have medical services. He'll be fed. And he'll be clothed. But I'm the only one in the jail who gets a secretary." Texas City privileges to Davis when he was jailed in Amarillo before acquittal there on charges he murdered his stepdaughter in a shooting spree at his mansion. The Harris County cells, which exist for the protection of inmates accused of well-publicized or "bizarre" crimes, have housed such defendants as Elmer Wayne Henley and David Owen Brooks, Houston's convicted mass murderers. The cells are furnished with a toilet and a bed. Heard said he does not know how or when Davis will arrive or whether Harris County deputies will have to go to Fort Worth to transfer Davis to Houston.
