(AP) _ The Kienast quintuplets, just turned 3-years-old, were given birthday presents that included spring clothes and toy rubber rafts. Although the anniversary of their birth date was Saturday, Mr. and Mrs. William Kienast's quints--Amy, Abigail, Gordon, Edward and Sarah--had a party Sunday. Mrs. Kienast described the quints as average for their age. "Sara talks all the time; Abigail gets, into everything; and Amy is the little boss," she said. Edward is a "happy charmer," and Gordon, the larges since birth, has "ups anc downs," she added. The Kienasts have two other children, Meg, 6, and John, 4. Responds Well LIMA (AP) -- Peruvian President Juan Vclasco has responded well to treatment fol- owlng emergency surgery for i ruptured aneurysm on an abdominal aorta, hospital spokesmen said Sunday. The 62-year-old president was operated on Friday for the aneurysm, a blood vessel en- argement which sometimes forms a tumor. He also underwent a minor operation Friday night for removal of a blood clot in his right leg, the hospi tal said. He was attended by heart and arterial specialists from Argentina, Peru, the United States and Cuba. Government officials empha sized that Gen. Velasco's illness will not result in any change in Peru's military regime. The Northwest girded Itself for another onslaught of wet weather as a.new frontal system approached. Fair weather prevailed in southern California and from the Rockies and Plateau to the lower Mississippi Valley generally. Dense fog covered south central Nebraska and light fog reduced visibility in Kansas, Oklahoma and Missouri. Light snow whitened Grand Island, Neb. Light snow dusted the Lower Great Lakes region. Kennedy, says that despite criticism he plans to keep his job working with this city's poor. Kennedy, 20, started work a week ago as a temporary coordinator of social and health programs in the Mission District. AEA Cuts Request For State Funds LITTLE ROCK (AP) -- The Arkansas Education Association has reduced its request for an increase in state funds tor the Minimum Foundation Aid Program from $18.5 million to $17 million. The revised request was revealed in the AEA's weekly Legislative Bulletin. Gov. Dale Bumpers has said he wants to appropriate $15.2 million for the Minimum Foundation Aid Program. Bumpers and AEA officials were to meet today to try to work out a solution to the problem. The major difference in the appropriation requested by Bumpers and the appropriation sought by the AEA concerns teachers' salaries. Bumpers has proposed a $547-a-year average teacher pay raise next year and $500-a year pay hike the following year. The AEA is seeking an average $600 pay raise each of the next two fiscal years. (AP) Hospitalized , Edward Wayne Williams, 18, of Batesville was shot and killed Sunday afternoon in a hunting accident north of the Walnut Grove community. Authorities said Williams was hunting with a companion at the time of the accident.
