Quality Pontiac-Buick FROM 8:l TtlOO NOON AND li/ev Texaco & Exxon y OF GALVESTON Quality Pontiac-Buick Ivey Texaco & Exxon 7 OF GALVESTON _ Probe Set On Fight Tickets NEW ORLEANS <UPl> — Federal officials are examining ticket stubs to determine whether duplicate tickets to the Muhammad Ali-Leon Spinks heavyweight championship fight were printed to bilk the slate out of thousands of dollars in taxes, U.S. Attorney John Volz said Friday. "We haven't discounted any possibilities, including that one," Volz said. "We have subpoenaed tickets and ticket stubs so we certainly have an interest in that. We're looking at stubs and tickets. This isn't a fishing expedition." One source in the U.S. attorney's office who attended the Sept. 15 fight in the Louisiana Superdome said he thought there were more persons in the dome than the 63,532 announced this week. "I thought there were a lot more than that," the source told UPI. "The only open seats 1 saw vacant were up in the terrace level (the stadium's highest section) and that was way at the top." If duplicate tickets were printed, officials said only one would have been sold and the other one held as evidence the ticket was not sold. If promoters could display the second ticket, officials said, they would not have to pay taxes on the seat while retaining all money from the sale of the duplicate.
