(AP) - American League MVP George Bell is in a much better mood after an air-clearing meeting with Toronto Blue Jays officials. Bell aired his beefs with Toronto management for 90 minutes Tuesday and agreed to a temporary truce with manager Jimy Williams. The terms of the ceasefire call for Bell to play where Williams wants him to play. "I would say George is satisfied, maybe not happier, because he got some things off his chest that he wanted to talk about," general manager Pat Gillick said. "So I would say it was a good meeting from a therapeutic standpoint." Bell's agent, Randy Hendricks, initiated the meeting with Gillick, club vice-president Paul Beeston and Williams. Hendricks said he and Bell asked Williams to be flexible when it came to putting Bell in the lineup. Hendricks said he would get involved again in 30 to 60 days if the situation "looks hopeless.'' Williams came into camp saying the experiment with Rob Ducey or Silvestre Campusano in center, Lloyd Moseby in left and Bell as designated . hitter was not "cast in stone." Both Ducey and Campusano have impressed Williams, who appears ready to go into the season using one of the rookies. Hendricks was concerned that Bell's highly demonstrative opposition to the designated-hitter role had backed Williams into a corner, forcing him to go with a rookie in center. Meanwhile, both the Blue Jays and New York Yankees denied published reports that they had talked about a trade of George Bell for Dave Winfield. "There's no truth to the George Bell-Dave Winfield trade talks," Gillick said. "We're not going to trade George Bell, and it would be foolish from our standpoint to put George Bell in the same division as us." Banks Says TAC May Rig Tests SAN DIEGO (AP) - Willie Banks, triple jump world-record holder, accused The Athletics Congress of falsifying drug test results, a claim vigorously denied by TAC officials, the Los Angeles Times reported. . , Banks, who made his state-j.| ' ments on Tuesday night before^ :!;i ' : induction into the San Diego Hall of Champions' Breitbard Hall of Fame, was not among the 28; track athletes selected by TAC to receive $1,500 per month to train for the Summer Olympics. Al Joyner and Mike Conley, first- and second-place finishers in the 1984 Olympics, were the only triple jumpers chosen, the Times said in its Wednesday editions. "There's a distinct possibility that TAC could rig the drug testing, even though I've never even thought of taking drugs," Banks said. "I know it could happen, because an official of TAC accused me of being on drugs when I set the world record 058 feet, 11V-; inches in a 1985 TAC national meet in Indianapolis)," said Banks, of L-os Angeles.
