16, 1976 PAGK 0 HAYS DAILY NEWS McCracken News St. Mary's Altar Society St. Mary's Altar Society met in the parish meeting room Monday, December 6, for a salad supper and Christmas party. Sixteen members enjoyed the many tasty salads. A short business meeting was held and it was decided that items would be donated for bingo at the Rush County Hospital. Teresa Moran and Mrs. Robert Janke volunteered to go to the Larned State Hospital to help with the gift wrapping for their Christmas party. Mrs. Dorothy Smith gave a report from the Pride Program committee. The meeting adjourned to play Christmas games and for the gift exchange. Senior Citizens. The Senior Citizens of the McCracken area met Tuesday noon, December 7, at the Untied Methodist Church for a pot luch dinner with 18 guests in attendance. The hosts and hostesses for the dinner were Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Barnes and Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Conner. The next meeting will be January 4 at the United Methodist Church. Friendly Neighbors Mrs. Margaret Dugan was hostess to the Friendly Neighbors Club Thursday noon, December 9, for their annual Christmas dinner. Following dinner, a short business meeting was held opening with the Flag Salute. The members also had a gift exchange. Present were Mr. and Mrs. Carl Grate, Mrs. Ray Grumbein, Mrs. Josephine Herdman, Mrs. Dorothy Smith, Mrs. Elsie Showalter, Mrs. Bessie North and Mrs. Margaret Dugan. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Greg Hinman of Hays, on the birth of a daughter, Jeannie Marie, born December 2 at the 1 Grisell Memorial Hospital in Ransom, weighting 7 pounds and 12% ounces. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Zweifel, Waldo, and Mr. and Mrs. Wendel Hinman, McCracken. Maternal great grandmother is Mrs. Nellie Francis, Lucas. Paternal great-grandmothers are Mrs. Alia Wagner, Rush Center, and Mrs. Mable Shineman, Frankfort. Sunday afternoon and evening, the Barbershoppers caroled at towns along 1-70 and - met their families for supper at Hays. Mr. and Mrs. Avery Norlin were among the group. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Ree Jr. were Thursday evening visitors of Mrs. Ann Foster. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Mills and Joy visited Saturday afternoon at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Danny Mills in Hays. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Healy spent Thursday evening in Hays and visited at the Dr. Max Silkman home. A bridal shower was held Wednesday evening for Janice North given by the Methoidst ladies at the United Methodist Church. Heather Schoenberger spent several days at the Jack Wilson home last week. William Grumbein returned home Wednesday after spending a few weeks at the Grisell Memorial Hospital in Ransom. Scott and Brenda Littler spent Monday and Tuesday with Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Littler while their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Littler were in Wichita. , Mr. and Mrs. /Connie Zimmerman, Hays, were Thursday afternoon callers of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Doerr. Last Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. John Hanson were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Watson at a banquet at Bcloit, Monday, they attended a Polled Hereford Sale at the Watson Walkin-W-Ranch at Barnard, Kan*. Mr. and Mrs, Jack Wilson accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Vic Schoenberger of Collyer to the Martin and Carolyn Schoenberger wedding at Brewster last week. Mr. and Mrs: Gene Wetzel were Monday evening guests of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Case. The children of Alexander- McCracken School grades 1-4 visited at the Long Term Care in LaCrosse Friday and sang numbers from their recent Fall Musical Review. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Case attended the funeral Friday of his aunt, Hattie Hatfield, at Wellington. They went on to Enid, Okla., where_they spent the weekend with' Mr. and Mrs. Bill Barker. Ed Weesncr entered Grisell Memorial Hospital at Hansom last Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Verle Giess, Arnold, Mrs. Bob Spena and Brenda, WaKeeney, and Mrs. Josephine Herdman spent Sunday in Hays shopping. Sunday evening, Mr. and Mrs. Giess and Mrs. Herdman had dinner at Alloways in Ellis before returning home. Terri Rogers accompanied Paulette Healy to Salina Thursday afternoon to spend the weekend with her sister, Brenda Rogers, Lynette Legleiter, Salina, and Paulette went to Manhatten to spend the weekend with Marsha Healy at K-State. Paulette also spent her Senior Day Friday at the University. Mr. and Mrs. Greg Hinman and baby daughter are at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wendal Hinman for an extended stay. The teachers and staff of the Alexander-McCracken Grade School, Mrs. Esther Janke and Mr. Elmer Papbst were guests Saturday evening of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Bott and Sonya, Alexander, for a Christmas gathering. Mrs. Mac Showalter and Mrs. Elven Showalter were shopping in Great Bend on Wednesday. Mrs. Joyce Eisenhour, Bushton, joined them for the shopping trip. Pat Littler of Hays nad friend, Phyllis Stude of Dodge City, were weekend guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Littler.
