···BUSINESS AND FINANCE WEDNESDAY, MARCH 6, 1968 PAGE 34 Trading Heavy As Market Puts On Technical Rall NEW YORK (AP) - The stock market staged a vigorous technical rally early today. Trading was heavy. The ticker tape was late. Gains outnumbered losses by '4 to 1 on the New York Stock "Exchange. ,7: Burrouglis rebounded about 6 -points, IBM 4, Xerox 3, Ling "Temco Vought 2, Amphenol, -Fair-child Camera, Monogram '.'Industries, McDonnell Douglas "and Gulf Western a point or better. '*' Gold mining stocks continued I to sag under profit taking. Some -were late in opening. Mclntyre Porcupine lost. 1, Benguet a fraction. -. Polaroid and Merck also advanced a point or more. .... Steels, motors, rubbers, mail Border-retails, chemicals, drugs ;and building materials staged a -fairly solid advance, with most -gains small. · Emphasis was on the glamour · stocks in the computer, conglomerate and other growth fields which have taken the worst battering during the long decline. Analysts saw nothing particular in the overnight news to trigger a rally but ascribed it mainly to technical factors such as short covering which brought sharp recoveries to some of the "volatile issues in the final min- 7 s utes of trading Tuesday. ·/; The market was seen to be in at least a temporarily oversold condition as it neared another support area in the averages.
