·PAGE 8 Lawyer seeking Steiger's seat ;· PHOENIX (AP) - Phoenix attorney Sid Rosen, an unsuccessful 1974 candidate for attorney general, announced Itoday he will seek the Demo- tcratic nomination for Rep. ·Sam Steiger's 3rd District '·seat. · ; Steiger, R-Ariz., has an- ;nounced he will abandon the seat he has held since 1967 to eek the seat of retiring Sen. ;Paul Fannin, R-Ariz. . Rosen, in a news conference, called for an "end to phony one-sided detente, curb and reduce the bureaucracy ·which has grown to arrogant, unmanageable proportions." He said to achieve those 'goals would require congress"men "who are qualified, honest and dedicated" and who believe elected officials "must be held to the very highest 'standards of conduct." Rosen, a University of Arizona law school graduate, lost to Atty. Gen. Bruce Babbitt in the 1974 election. · Outgoing Glendale Mayor Max Klass and Sen. Tony Gabaldon, D-Flagstaff, have Sid Rosen Wants nomination already indicated they will run in the Democratic primary for Steiger's seat. Rosen, 36, is a one-time assistant state attorney general, professor of international law and has traveled in 96 countries around the world. UA library funds action is delayed Citizen Phoenix Bureau PHOENIX _ The House Appropriations Committee has delayed action on the University of Arizona's request for funds to equip and furnish its new library. The committee delayed action on the money bill until Feb. 23. Bids on the library furniture will be opened by that time, UA President John P. Schaefer told the committee. The money bill was reduced from $2.1 to $1.5 million after Schaefer said bids on shelving and other items have come in substantially below estimates. By using $500,000 left over in library construction money, the school will need only about $1.5 million to completely f u r n i s h the b u i l d i n g , Schaefer estimated. Schaefer said the university would have 60 days in which to accept the bids before they are no longer valid offers because of rising prices. The library has not been in use since its completion because the legislature failed last year to approve money for furnishings, shelving and other items. iWho's beefed up theTamales?
