Trading xras moderately active. · Stock exchanges irfll be dosed today ia advance of Washington's birthday. . ' . . ' ' A Jate rally by rails put them in gear with an advance of industrials--irregular as it was--and gave the market a well rounded aspect it has lacked recently. Steels, motors and rubbers--Wednesday's leaders-kept plugging ahead almost from the start. As rails forged gains, cigarette issues, motion pictures and a wide assortment from other groups joined in the rise. The Dow-Jones industrial average rose 2.08 to a new peak of T939, topping Ihe previous dosing high of 7919 made Feb. 17. Volume rose moderately to 4.72 million shares from Wednesday's 426 million.
