BUILD YOUR OWN Six Sides By Steve Ellingson . .You can go all out on upholstered furniture, floor coverings and curtains, and come up with nothing if you don't finish your room with suitable, useful accent pieces 'to give it that extra-added attraction. Every room needs end tables, coffee tables and the like to expand its usefulness and give it substance. Just such an accent piece is pictured here. This hexagonal commode not only provides allure to your room, but you will also find it to be exceedingly functional. The doors open to a roomy storage area for all sorts of miscellany that keeps accumulating in every home. It's ideal when used as a cocktain table by a chair or sofa. It's mounted on casters and can easily be moved from one area to another, a handy idea when cleaning time comes. It's the sort of furniture that makes things just a little easier for the busy homemaker and hostess who likes style. Even though this commode has a rich and elegant appearance it's something any amateur can build when he uses the full size pattern. All you need do is trace the pattern parts on plywood, then saw them out, and finally put the parts together. The commode shown was made of birch, but numerous other fancy plywoods are now available should you prefer something different. Getting a professional finish is as simple as A, B, C when you use this type of material. The cost of furniture is very low when you do your own building.
