OfS Gives Reception to Honor Mrs. Heer A reception and banquet honoring Mrs. Raymond (Jean) Hccr, associate grand conductress of the Grand Chapter of Kansas, Order of the Eastern Star, was given Monday. The "Wishing Well Wishes" banquet at Downing's was attended by 145 OES members and other friends. Table decorations were 10-inch wishing wells on greenery with miniature flowers strewn about them.

Each well canopy had the emblematic flowers of the blue violet, yellow jessamine, white lily, green fern and red rose. Individual favors were small wishing wells of the Eastern Star colors. The center arrangement at the head table was an electric water fountain with a cobblestone path. Flowers and pennies for good wishes were arranged in and around the fountain. The decorations were hi charge of Mmes.

Clayton Ladwig, Carl Heinrich, George Daniel, James Moore and Harold Collier. The banquet invocation was given by Mrs. James Collier, worthy grand chaplain of General Grand Chapter. Dinner music was played at the organ by Dwayne Kelley. The program for the reception was at Fellowship Hall, First United Methodist Church.

The opening was the incoming march ot the Finney Chapter officers, the national anthem and pledge of allegiance. The Rev. J. W. Vogt, associate pastor, gave the invocation and Mrs.

Greathouse, worthy matron, gave the welcome. Grand officers introduced were Mrs. Walter W. Gretz, Wichita, worthy grand matron; Gilbert H. Finlay, Augusta, worthy grand patron; Mrs.

Dale Mack, Linn, grand conductress; Mrs. Charles M. Reed, Wichita, grand chaplain; Mrs. Robert U. Wright, Augusta, grand marshal; Mrs.

Don Flickingcr, Wellington, grand Ruth; Mrs. J. El- voocl Hill, Plains, grand Esther; Mrs. Edward L. Baxter, Manhattan, grand elcctra; Owen E.

Wilbur Fulton, district deadly for the Order of the Rainbow for Girls, were present. Approximately 200 members and other friends joined in honoring Mrs. Heer. They were From Garden City, Lakin, Syracuse, Coolidge, Scott City, Sublette, Ulysses, Elkhart, Hugoton, Dighton, Plains, Liberal, Dodge City. Mullinville, Wichita, Topeka, Chanute, St.

John, Kansas City, Pratt, Cherokee, Wilmore, Salina, Derby and Cunningham. Mrs. Gretz and Mr. Finlay were honored with a formation of a star by officers of the chapter, who wore blue formals. Mrs.

Esther Evins, Syracuse, sang "Star of the East," accompanied by Mrs. Frank Dailey. Messages were given by Mrs. Gretz and Mr. Finlay.

They were given honorary memberships in the chapter. Mrs. Collier, worthy grand chaplain, was honored with a musical reading given by Mrs. William Kelley. Mrs.

Collier presented greetings from the general grand chapter. A "Wishing Well Wishes" ceremony was given to honor Mrs. Heer. Mrs. Ehvood Hill, Plains, sang "We Asked the Lord," accompanied by Mrs.

Von Richardson, worthy matron, Plains. A pathway leading to a large wishing well, entwined with roses, was formed by the chapter officers. Mrs. Heer was escorted on the pathway by Mrs. Kenneth Mutter.

Each officer dropped colored glittered stars in the well and offered Mrs. Heer best wishes. Mrs. Greathouse rolled up the old oaken bucket carrying the gift from the chapter. Mrs.

Orie Dunn presented the gift of china. A personalized song to the tune of "Trees" was sung by Mrs. Hill. The program committee was Mines. Clayton Ladwig, Jerome Stonehocker, Douglas Crotty, William Kelley, Frank Dailey and Jon Herod.

A needlepoint picture by John Herod of a wishing well was in the gift from officers and friends. Other chapter room decorations were the words "Wish- Well Wishes" suspended in the east. Flowers of the star colors were used at each star pointt station and at the large wishing well. These decorations were planned by Mmes. Kenneth Mutter, Ross Blackford, Doug Te'drow, Warren Fouse and Robert Garnand ft Garden City Pam Saturday.

June 8 1968 Mrs. Heer expressed her appreciation to the chapter for the grand reception and thanked all the grand officers for their loyal support. She-introduced her husband, Raymond, their daughter, Mrs. Paul Shearer, little granddaughter, Pamala, of MullinviEe, and their son, Mike Heer, a junior at Kansas State University. Garden -City Assembly of the Order of the Rainbow for Girls, with Tedrow, mother advisor, gave the closing benediction.

They were robed in white and formed a cross at the altar in a kneeling position. Cindy Headrick sang "I Walked Today Where Jesus Walked." Refreshments were served on a tea table covered with white net over green cloth and the banquet centerpiece. In charge of these arrangements was Manes. L. C.

Crouch, John Metheney, Leroy Vannaman, Robert Taylor, Archie Ladner and Willis Salter. At the guest books and gift tables were Mrs. Anna Staley and Mrs. Charley Staley. A lighted wishing well loaned by Mrs.

Lester Clark was used on the registration table. The well, an artistic piece of sentimental value, was made by her father when he was a rest dent at the Masonic Home in Wiehrta. Flowers of the star colors were arranged within the well. and Mrs. Heer, 1719 Center, after the reception The chapter was host to'a breakfast Tuesday morning at Masonic Temple for 31 overnight guests. They were served by Mmes. Harold Collier. John Ward, Clayton Ladwig, Ross Blackford, Leo Solze and Anna Staley.

The tables were decorated with bouquets of red roses from Mrs. Ladwig's flower garden. Lincoin Goodwill Unit Is Guest Of Mrs. Roberts Mrs. Bertha 916 Anderson, was hostess for Lincoln Goodwill EHU Tuesday afternoon.

Mrs. Roberts gave the devotion for 10 members present. Each woman named an artist and described his work for the roll call discussion. The hostess gave the lesson, "Taste in Furniture." She stressed that interiors of a home should be personalized. Members present included mmes.

Mrs. William Drees, 1121 N. 5th, will be hostess July 2. Serve toasted walnuts with raisins and dates for a delightful cool weather dessert. To toast walnut halves, scatter them over a small cookie sheet and bake hi a moderate oven until lightly browned.

Watch the toasting to make sure the nuts do not over- brown and shake the pan a few times during the baking period.
