He is being held In Nogales pending extradition to Utah. Salt: Lake City police said Ramos Is a suspect In connection with a $200,000 narcotics find made by police there in a raid on April 5. Seven persons, Including some persons known to police here, were arrested, they said. Richards also disclosed the arrest of Jesus Lopez-Tovar, 31, just north of Naco, Ariz., Thursday afternoon. Lopez- Tovar, an Agua Prieta, Son., carpenter,, had about $7,000 worth of heroin In his underclothing, Richards said. Lopez-Tovar, booked on suspicion of smuggling heroin, is being held under $5,000 bond In the Cochise County Jail at Blsbee. Ex-Army, Officer On Green's Staff Horton C. Weiss, a retired career Army officer who only last September was admitted to the Arizona Bar, has been appointed a deputy county prosecutor. County Atty. Norman E. Green announced the appointment. Weiss has been engaged in private law practice in Tucson since his admission to the bar. A native of Nebraska, Weiss enlisted in the Army as a private in 1939. Twenty years later he retired at the rank of major and enrolled in the University of Arizona College of Law. The 46-year-old lawyer lives with his wife, Estelle, and three children at 7034 Elbow Bay Drive. He will assume his duties in the county office immediately. ... Journalism Teachers Get Grants Two District 1 high school Journalism t e a c h e r s have been awarded summer study grants by the Newspaper Fund. John Carlton Jr., of Catalina High School will study at the University of Colorado. Miss Kathleen Sage, of Tucson High School, will attend the University of Wisconsin. A total of 434 high school journalism teachers and publications advisers have been a w a r d e d the fellowships, which this year amount to $153,000. The teachers will spend up to 12 week's studying scholastic and professional journalism problems and techniques at 46 colleges and universities. The Newspaper Fund fellowships cover tuition, fees, books, room and board and some travel expenses. The fund operates on grants from the Wall Street Journal, Assault Suspect Faces Trial Arnold Ballesteros Navarro, 22, of 513 W. 43rd St., has been held for Superior Court trial on a felony charge of aggravated assault. He is accused of taking part In the stabbing of William Barreda, 25, of 301 E. Fairground St., in the rest room of the Circle R Drive Inn Bar, 4221 S. 6th Ave., on April 14. Justice of the Peace Clark H. Johnson ordered Navarro held for the higher court under $1,000 bond after a preliminary hearing Friday. He dismissed identical charges against two other suspects in the assault--Emelesio P. Soltero, 22, of 649 W. 40th St. and Ignacio Estrada Cota, 24, of 546 E. 32nd St.--for lack of evidence, Barreda was the only witness to testify for the state. Better Late Than Never?
