PAGE 4 SECTION .1 l)AII.YI!F.RA!.r> SATl'ROAY. MARCH 8. 2008 L25 Highlights Saturday evening, March 8 N = NEW Show Lea Thompson stars in "Jane Doe: How to Fire Your Boss" at 8 p.m. on Hallmark Channel. • "Barnyard: The Original Party Animals" — Kevin James provides the voice of Otis, a male cow with udders — yes, you read that right — in this 2006 CGI film. When the farmer leaves for a while, all the animals decide it's time to party. Otis' dad, Ben (voice of Sam Elliott), usually makes sure the farm is at least operating, but after he is killed by coyotes, it's up to carefree Otis to take charge. Yes, this was promoted as a kids movie. Additional voices include Courteney Cox and Danny Glover. At 6:30 p.m. on Showtime. • "CSI: NY"— Melina Kanakaredes' nicely understated acting is a highlight of "Heart of Glass," as her character, Stella, has a health scare while investigating the death of a music mogul. The solution to this one will shock you just as it shocked the perpetrator. Mac and Danny (Gary Sinise, Carmine Giovinazzo) investigate the death of a young woman with no evidence of a fatal injury. That ending is a shocker, too. At 7 p.m. on WBBM Channel 2. • "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" — If you saw "Full Metal Jacket," you know that Vincent D'Onofrio plays coming unglued very, very well. So you won't be surprised by his brilliant acting in this episode, in which his character, Robert Goren, goes under cover as a mental patient to investigate the death of an inmate In an upstate prison's mental ward. Goren's not the most tightly wrapped candy in the dish, so this isn't what you'd call an easy gig for him. You watching, Emmy judges? At 7 p.m. on WMAQ Channel 5. • "Road to Perdition" — Cinematographer Conrad Hall was honored posthumously with an Oscar for director Sam Mendes's ("American Beauty") 2002 version of a graphic novel. Tom Hanks is atypically grim as a Depression-era hit man on the run with his surviving son (Tyler Hoechlin) after the rest of their family is murdered. Paul Newman is superb as a patriarchal underworld kingpin; so is Jude Law as another killer sent to eliminate Hanks.
