PAGE 10 SECTION 7 DAILY HERAI.D Condo Living SATURDAY. MARCH 8, 2008 Closets an amenity at River's Edge in Vernon Hills Chances are that if you were to look at the marketing literature presented by most condominium developers, the last item you might find listed — if at all — is closets. After all, compared with such concerns as location, a maintenance-free lifestyle, luxury amenities and investment values, closets would not seem to carry much weight. "It's true that, compared with all those other concerns arid considerations, closets don't have much sex appeal," suggests Helen Weiss, vice president of Weiss Develop- ment Corp. "But whether you're talking about baby boomers who want to downsize, or urban professionals who are still building their life together, and accumulating a wardrobe as they go — two groups that might not seem to have much in common — generous closet space is probably a universally indispensable item." One of Weiss Development's current communities is River's Edge, a condominium complex of 80 residences in two five-story buildings on a five- acre site in Vernon Hills, bordering Lincolnshire. "Of course," adds Weiss, "nobody is going to buy one of these residences just because it has good closet space. ... But closets certainly have carried their share of interest in persuading shoppers to make condominiums like those at River's Edge their future home." Six two-bedroom/two-bath designs, some with additional dens or formal dining rooms, and one three-bedroom/2V2- bath plan are available for purchase. The residences range in size from 1,550 to 2,325 square feet with private balconies and are priced from Cambridge series sales at 25 percent in Pingree Grove One quarter of the 224 total Nature series condominiums have now been sold at Cambridge Lakes in Pingree Grove. The Nature series consists of four different condominium plans, ranging from 951 to 1,108 square feet of living space with two bedrooms and one or two baths, priced currently from $135,000 to $155,000. Four professionally appointed model homes are open for viewing. All of the Nature series homes include master bedrooms with walk-in closets, laundry areas, and feature maintenance free living. The condominiums are being built in groups of 16 homes in two- story buildings. Outdoor parking is provided and garages are available. The Nature series condominiums are a terrific value, not only because of the attainable prices, but because they are part of Chicagoland's most popular new home community, according to Paul F. Ivers, president of Cambridge Homes. "These homes are affordable for first-time buyers who have the added benefit of enjoying the numerous and exceptional recreational and scenic amenities of Cambridge Lakes, as well as its terrific location with convenient access to 1-90," Ivers said. Cambridge Lakes features a 30,000-square-foot community .center with three outdoor pools, an on-site p re-school and charter school, five baseball diamonds, three soccer fields, four playgrounds, seven tot-lots, a skate park, 12 lakes and 5.2 miles of walking and bike paths. Cambridge Lakes is a master planned community that will include 2,995 single- family and multifamily homes when complete. The community features 43 different single-family and multi-family plans among eight different home series, and 24 professionally appointed model homes are open for viewing. Pingree Grove is located approximately four miles to the southeast of 1-90 and Route 47 interchange. The Nature series sales and model center is located near the corner of Route 47 and Route 72 (Higgins Road), placing it minutes from 1-90 and the Huntley Prime Outlet Mall. In addition to providing an easy commute to the northwest suburbs along the 1-90 corridor, the community is less than 15 minutes to the major employment centers in Elgin via Route 20 and Route 72. To visit the Cambridge Lakes Nature Series sales and model center, take 1-90 to the Route 47 exit, then left (south) approximately 3.5 miles and turn right (west) on Route 72 to the community entrance on the right. Daily office hours are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (noon to 6 p.m. on Friday). For more information about the Nature series in Cambridge Lakes call (847) 984-4874.
