Then he teased her n l i t t l e . "When a n y t h i n g went wrong, I took her across my knee and spanked her." Mrs. Horsley l o o k e d scandalized. Her husband roared w i t h laughter. "No! No! She has never needed a spanking. She is the finest woman in the world!" Any advice to newlyweds? Horsley laid his hand over his wife's. "Respect each other, love each other, u n t i l death does you part." She nodded. * * « « MEMBERS OF pioneer families, Horsley was born in Provo, and Mrs. Horsley in I.ogan, Utah. They met in 18S4 in Soda Springs, Ida,, where Horsley was working at his falher's store and sawmill. Matilda had come from Logan to visit her sister in Soda Springs. 3oy Niagara Survivor, 8, a Swim Fan N I A G A R A FALLS, N.Y UPI)--One year ago today Roger Woodward became the irst person to survive an ac- :idental fall over the giant Niagara cataract. Little hns changed since hen for the now S-yenr-oIc hoy. He loved swimming hen and he hopes to cele irate today by going swim ming. Roger, 7 at the time, came out of the fall over the 162 'oot Horseshoe Falls with only bumps and scratches. Hi also came out of it withou a fear of water. "I wanted to go swimming loday," Roger said Saturday "but my folks thought it was loo cold. So I'm hoping for a good day tomorrow." The boy was boating las July 9 on the Upper Niagar River w i t h his sister, Deanne now 18, and a friend. Th surging current caught the! tiny boat, overturning it. Deanne was swept near th American shore and was res cued by two men. The frien drowned. Roger, wearing only a swim suit and life jacke was swept over the falls an rescued below. The courtship blossomed, sustained by letters that t r a v e l e d by stagecoach from Soda Springs to Logan. Horsley worked as a freighter In Idaho and Utah and he had an automobile agency in Soda Springs. "I had the first car in Soda Springs!" he beams. It was a Studebakcr, he says. The Horsleys have had no c h i l d r e n . They have an adopted son, Newell J. Horsley, 4121 E.
