PAGE 22 T U C S O N D A I L Y C I T I Z E N FRIDAY, MAY 12, 1967 STAMPS IN THE NEWS Issue Honors Lions International By DOROTHY GALLAGHER The "Search for Peace" commemorative stamp, to be released July 5 at Chicago, will honor the 50th anniversary of Lions International 'which will then be holding its convention. As part of its anniversary activities, Lions .is sponsoring a 'Search for -Peace' essay contest for young men and women, agelito22. The Search for Peace stamp will be printed in red, blue and black on granite paper. Inset in a circle in grayed tones is a white dove of, peace, its beak clutching a sprig of laurel. "Search for," Lions' International," and "United States" will be in" blue. Red will be used for the word "Peace," and the denomination "5c." It will be printed in one pass through the Giori press. All stamps will be tagged. Collectors desiring first day cancellations may send addressed envelopes, with remittance to cover the cost of the stamps to be affixed, to the Postmaster, Chicago, Illinois 60607. The outside envelope to t h e . Postmaster should be marked "First Day Covers 5c Search for Peace Stamp." Requests must be postmarked no later than July 5,1967. o o o A discussion on the "Philatelic Societies -- Why They Exist ·and How to Join," will be led by John Dunfee, at Tuesday evening's meeting/of the Tucson Stamp Club. A mixture sale will follow.the program. The meeting and program art open to the public, and all interested collectors and visitors to Tucson are welcome.
