\ ( - POOL HAS MANY FEATURES This fan shaped 30-by-60-by 82 l /£ foot heated swimming pool at Tucson Estates here features two diving boards, six underwater lights, four ladders, four handrails with concrete steps at the shallow end. Careful Check Swimming pools are for fun. Swjmming pool games are for fun people. But, most important of all, swimming pool sanitation is for.foresighted fun people. Health authorities across the nation are concerned with the bacteria count in pool water. Bacteria, uncontrolled by proper chemical sanitation, grow at an alarming rate during hot weather. Materials brought into the pool contribute to this growth. Owners of permanent pools in general have been informed about the importance of proper chlorination, pH control, and good poolside housekeeping. Smaller pools of the fill and drain variety can become ideal breeding places for algae and bacteria. If chlorination is overlooked, the bacteria count can grow to a dangerous level. ' Because the water in such pools is not filtered and because they are used largely by children, who carry all sorts of toys and other foreign objects into the water, they generally contain more bacteria per gallon than permanent-type pools. "Small temporary fill and draw type backyard swimming pools probably constitute the most hazardous type of bathing facility insofar as bacteriological contamination is concerned," Dr. David E. Overton, Commissioner of Suffolk County, N.Y. Department of Health says. "These pools should be emptied and cleaned frequently. During their use a chlorine residual should be maintained in the water at 'air times. Chlorine sanitizers are a cheap and effective method for the destruction of bacteria and through their residual effect provide a lasting protection." All pools, whether big or small, portable or permanent, need this kind of attention, and more. Below is a guide to go by in maintaining pool sanitation, DOES YOUR HOME NEED.
