NBC.:and CBS o f f e r competing documentary specials from 10 to 11. Legalized gambling fever in the small Connecticut town of Plainfield is examined in "The Big Dog Track in the Sky -- Plainfield Bets Its' Future," an "NBC Reports" special on Channel 4. The dog-racing track, the stale's first, opened on Knight-Ridder to sell radio-TV operation MIAMI (AP) - Knight- Ridder Newspapers Inc. said Tuesday it has agreed lo sell- its 26 per cent interest in the m a j o r M i n n e a p o l i s - S t . P a u l radio-television operation to LIN Broadcasting of New York City. The agreed upon purchase price for WCCO AM- FM-TVwas $12 million. MTC Properties Inc., which owns half of the stations' parent company, · Mid-Continent Radio Television Inc., has the right to block the deal by buy- i n g ' ' - ' K n i g h t - R i d d e r ' s interest itself. The transaction also de- pends on approval by the Federal Communications Commission. Terms are $6 million when the deal is finalized, with the balance due within 360 days and subject to interest set at the prime lending r a t e , company officials said. The stations were part of Bidder Publication Inc.'s holdings at the time of the company's merger with Knight 'Newspapers Inc. ii\ November 1974. LIN owns three television, four AM and three FM stations in s e v e r a l states. Jan. 2, and tonight's program tries to measure the social and economic impact on the «n and its people. Public television offers "TVTV Superbowl." a documentary on pro fool- ball's Super Bowl X week, which has been critically acclaimed in the East. It airs from 10:15 lo 11:15 p.m. on Channel 28. "TVTV Superb,,wl" covers Super Bowl week from the angles of t h e players, the f a n s , the media, the National Football League and business in Miami. The program is the largest location video project undertaken by TVTV, an i n n o v a t i v e young production unit. It was coproduced with New York's WNET and requir- ed -12 persons working with eight camera crews. CHANNEL 9 presents IwoGO-minute specials this evening in connection with SI. Patrick's Day. The Irish Rovers offer a musical tribute to St. Pal from 8 to 9, and, from 9 to 10, Channel 9 brings back "Kennedy's Ireland," a documentary on John F. Kennedy's 1963 tour of Ireland, narrated by Robert Vaughn. On Channel 50, f r o m 7:30 lo 8, "Showcase" presents a "St. Patrick's Day Salute," featuring the songs, dances and music of Ireland.
