The warrant for Legate was issued Monday and was amended Wednesday after officials with the Florida Department of Corrections learned Legate was in violation of another condition of his probation, said William Kendall, a deputy circuit administrator. Legate was convicted in 1994 of forcing or enticing a child to commit a lewd and lascivious act and lewd and lascivious acts on a child younger than 16. He was sentenced to 17 months in jail, time he had already served while awaiting trial, and 15 years' probation. The record-setting 888 employees gave a small sample of blood that is now being tested for further screening.

Bone marrow is requested only if a suitable match is made. The Leukemia Society of America's Central Florida Chapter and the American Red Cross held the event to educate and recruit volunteers to join the National Marrow Donor Program. KSC's Biomedical Office and volunteers helped generate interest in the event. With minority numbers low in the bone marrow registry, an emphasis was placed on registering minority employees. He said his office will continue its prosecution of the case. Neither of the Ferros could be reached for comment.
