He was born in Biddeford, Maine, Aug. 23, 1942, son of the late Percy and Myrtle (Morrison) Lovely, and had lived most of his life in the Torrington-Winsted area. He had worked for the Travelers for ten years, was a U.S. Army veteran of The Vietnam era, and was a member of the Torrington Lodge of Elks No. 372.

He is survived by two brothers, Harold Lovely of Guilford and Peter Lovely of Torrington; two sisters, Norma Jarvis of Winsted and Linda Bayette of Co-lebrook. Funeral service will be Saturday, 10 a.m., at the Maloney Funeral Home, 55 Walnut Winsted. Burial will be in Forest Salyatore J. Melluzzo Sadie Marie B. Micali Lynne Barbara L.

Arbo Joseph Raymond "Ray" Bisson SHUMSKY. Lynne Barbara (La-teiner) Shumsky, 53, of 13 Old Village Road, Bloomfield, died. Wednesday (Dec. 30) at Hartford Hospital. Born in New York, she lived in West Hartford, moving to Bloomfield In 1963.

She was active with her beloved husband, Robert, in the family business, Connecticut Sales Associates. She was Vice President of the Bloomfield Lion's Club. Besides her beloved husband Robert, she leaves a son, Stephen L. Shumsky and a daughter, Michele A. Shumsky, both at home; and her sister, Portia Gar.

Atty. Charles Stroh, of SufV field, who for more than half century served the State of Connecticut as a public service au. thorlty on education, environ ment, agriculture, and, corrections, died Thursday (Dec. 31, 1992) at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center following a.

lengthy illness. The 82 year old. barrister, who limited his practice'1 to civil law and specialized in es-' fates and property condemn-, tions, was one of the largest property owners in Suf field, where he, bred prize winning Holstein cattle, racehorses, and champion German Drathaar dogs on his spa-: cious Hilltop Farm. He was a longtime trustee of the University of Connecticut, chairman of the State Prison board of directors from 1955 until 1968, when the state penal system was unified and placed under control of the Department of Corrections, and-president of the Connecticut Resources Recovery Agency from. 1975 until 1983 when he resigned rather than comply with the" state's financial disclosure law on grounds it constituted an invasion of privacy.

He also was an incorporator of Mount Sinai Hospital, for-' mer president of the Connecticut Holstein Association, and a member of the Executive committee of, the board of trustees of the Eastern States Exposition, where his Holstein entries captured many', blue ribbons in the dairy cattle division. During his presidency of the Connecticut Resources Recovery Authority, a plan to establish trash to energy plants throughout' Connecticut was implemented, and recycling laws adopted. His, marriage to the former Betty Welker of Pittsburgh, a dog fancier, led to the new adventure of raising German Drathaars, also known as German wire-haired pointers. Atty. Stroh was the son of the late Abraham and Bertha (Kraut) Stroh.

He graduated from the University of Vermont in 1932, and received his law degree at Cornell Law School in 1934. After 30 years of practice in Hartford, he relocated his office to Suffield. Connecticut's continuing loss of farm acreage was of deep concern to Atty. Stroh, and he was a member of the Gover-, nor's task force for the conservation of farmland, whose findings' and recommendations led to pas-; sage of the Farm Preservation Act, by the General Assembly In 1978. Besides his wife, Betty, he leaves a sister, Mrs.

Ethel Harris of Burlington, and two nieces. He was the husband of Thelma (Werner) Furbush.

He was born in Cheswold, and had resided in East Hartford for the past 47 years. He was a decorated U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and a lifetime member of the VFW Post No. 2083, East Hartford. He was also a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Chapter No.

1477, East Hartford. Prior to his retirement in 1978, he was employed by the Town of East Hartford for 17 years. Besides his wife of 47 years, Mr. Furbush is survived by five sons and three dasghters-ln-law, Theodore C. Furbush of Brooklyn, Lew-Is C.

and Patricia Furbush Jr. of East Hartford, Robert H. and Ber-nadette Furbush of Amston, Raymond E. and Caryn Furbush, and Leonard J. Furbush, all of East Hartford; five daughters and three sons-in-law, Joyce and Edward Mull, and Lois M.

Furbush, all of East Hartford, Carol and George A. White of Andover, Barbara J. Furbush, and Marylou and Jeffrey LaRose, all of East Hartford; 13 grandchildren; four greatgrandchildren; a very special granddaughter. Brandy Furbush of East Hartford; several nieces and nephews. 31, 1992, at Middlesex Hospital. She was born in Manchester, Dec. 19, 1921, daughter of the late Ernest H. and Augusta (Roessner) Hotchkiss. She retired from the Stock Transfer Department of the Travelers Insurance Co.

after working there for 40 years, and was a member of the United Methodist Church, Clinton. She leaves a sister, Lorraine Ellis of East Hampton; nieces and nephews. There will be a funeral service Tuesday, Jan. 5, 1993, 10 a.m., at the Rose Hill Funeral Home, 580 Elm Rocky Hill. Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill.

Flora (Jenkins) Hudson, 50, of 4 Douglas Hartford, died Tuesday (Dec. 29, 1992) at Hartford Hospital.

She was born in Smithville, and lived in Hartford most of her life. She is survived by two sons, Dennis Hudson and Howard Hudson; five daughters, Shirley Hallums, Denise Hudson, Karen Biggs and husband Dexter Wayne Biggs, Sharon Hudson, and Alice Hudson, all of the Hartford area; two brothers, Jessie Jenkins and Samuel Jenkins, both of Hartford; two sisters, Mabel Robinson of Hartford and Evelyn Clark of New Jersey; a son-in-law, Larry Hallums; 16 grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Burial will be in Northwood Cemetery, Wilson. LAWSON. Catherine (Rotchford) Lawson, 81, wife of the late William C. Lawson, of East Hartford, passed away Thursday (Dec. 31) at her home.

Born in Hartford, she had resided in East Hartford for the past 40 years. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, East Hartford. Mrs. Lawson is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas J.

and Linda Lawson of Enfield; a sister, Josephine Hathaway of East Hartford; three grandchildren, Karyn Lawson of Windsor Locks, Thomas Lawson, and Scott Lawson, both of Enfield; several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday, 2-4 p.m. MELLUZZO. Salvatore J. Melluzzo, 76, of the Elmwood section of West Hartford, beloved husband of Frances A. (Gineo) Melluzzo, died Wednesday (Dec.

30) at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center. Born in Hartford, July 28, 1916, son of the late Sebastiano and Natala (Vasques) Melluzzo, he was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, and a member of St. Brigid Church, West Hartford.

Besides his wife, he leaves two sons and a daughter-in-law, Frank J. Melluzzo of Elm-wood, and S. Michael and Diane Melluzzo of East Hampton; a brother, Thomas Melluzzo of West Hartford; a sister, Vera Sellitto of Elmwood; a sister-in-law, Lina Gineo of West Hartford; four grandchildren, Ken, Kim, Meg, and Peter Melluzzo, all of Manchester; four stepgrandchildren, Eva Roehrl, Louis, Lisa, and Christie Loffredo, all of East Hampton; a great-grandson; many nieces and nephews. MICALI. Sadie Marie (Bazzano) Micali, 75, of Ft. Pierce, formerly of Niantic and West Hartford, wife of Daniel E. Micali, died Wednesday (Dec. 30) in Ft.

Pierce. Born in Manchester, she lived in West Hartford for 32 years. She retired in 1979 from the Wiremold, West Hartford. Besides her husband, she is survived by a son, Daniel F. Micali of East, Hartford; two daughters, Pamela Anderson of Lebanon and Frances VanDamme of Sombra, Ontario, Canada; a brother, Samuel Bazzano of Windsor; a sister, Josephine Fontana of Wethersfield; and five grandchildren.

The funeral is Monday, 9:15 a.m., from the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Wethersfield, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Brigid's Church, Elmwood. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. Calling hours are Sunday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.

30) at the Johnson Memorial Hospital, Staf ford. Born in Fort Collins, he had been a resident of the Enfield community for the past 34 years. Mr. MacArthur was a 21 year veteran of the U.S. Navy, retiring in 1958, at the rank of Chief Electrician's Mate.

He had served on various submarines during World War II in the Pacific, and later had been stationed at the Naval Submarine Base In New London. After retiring from the U.S. Navy, he was employed as an electrical planner with General Electric, Windsor, for 27 years, retiring in 1985. He was a member of the Baystate West Chapter, and the Central Connecticut Chapter of the U.S. Sub Veterans of World War II, and the John Maciolek Post No.

154 American Legion, Enfield. He was also a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, the Nathaniel Green Masonic Lodge, Warwick R.I., the Institute for the Certification of Engineering Technicians, and AARP Chapter No. 1209, Enfield. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Ethel Mae (Kirkham) MacArthur; a niece and a nephew, Darlene Grl-mas, and Charles MacArthur both of Denver, and many dear friends. Funeral service will be Monday, 12:30 p.m., at the Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield.

Burial, with military honors, will be in the State Veterans Cemetery, Middle-town. Catherine (Sifaro) Marocchini, 87, of Wethersfield, widow of Fortunato Marocchini, died Thursday (Dec.

31) at Hartford Hospital. Born in Hartford, she was a lifelong resident of Wethersfield. A communicant of Sacred Heart Church, Wethersfield, she is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Andrew and Martha Marocchini of Wethersfield, John and Terry Marocchini of Dublin, Ireland, and Joseph Marocchini of Wethersfield; a daughter and son-in-law, Anna and Arthur Atkinson of Vernon; two daughters-in-law, Rose Marocchini of Wethersfield and Patricia Marocchini of Phoenix, 15 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by four sons, Frank, Thomas, Loreto, and Benedict Marocchini. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, 9 a.m., at Sacred Heart Church, 56 Hartford Wethersfield.

Mitchell, 70, of 77 Cornell Circle, East Hartford, died Wednesday (Dec. 30, 1992) at St. Francis Hospital. He was born in Harrywatch Manchester, Jamaica, W.I., and had lived in the East HartfordHartford area most of his life. He was a member of Faith Seventh Day Adventist Church, where he served as head deacon, on the Usher Board, and was a Sabbath School teacher and a former youth leader.

He is survived by his wife, Bevolin (Forbes) Mitchell of Hartford; a son, Lascelles Mitchell of Chicago, a daughter, Melba Jean Mitchell-Bland; a stepson, Dennis Chambers of East Hartford; several foster children; four brothers, Clifton T. Mitchell, Paltiel E. Mitchell, Earl B. Mitchell, and Windell T. Mitchell; three sisters, Enid L.

Dwyer, Merle U. Grey and Theda C. Mitchell-Finnister; three grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends to mourn his loss. 31, 1992) at Bristol Hospital. He was born in West Wyoming, June 19, 1923, and was a son of the late Anthony and Maryanne (Mieczko) Perlock. He resided in Bristol for the past 40 years, and was employed at Pratt Whitney Aircraft, Southington, before retiring 11 years ago. He was a member of St. Stanislaus Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Bruce Poole of Bristol; two brothers, Michael Perlock of Swoyersville, and Joseph Perlock of West Wyoming, two sisters, Katherine Ross, and Sophie Rostock, both of Pitt-ston, two grandchildren, Ash-lee, and John-William Poole, both of Bristol; several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be Saturday, 8 a.m., from Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue followed by a Mass, 9 a.m., at St. Stanislaus Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.

Prior to her retirement, she was employed by HELCO, for over 35 years. She was a member of the Electra Club, the Catholic Daughters of America, St. Augustine Court, and the Business and Professional Women's Club of Hartford. Besides her husband, she leaves two nephews, Thomas L.

Murphy, and Francis P. Murphy, both of East Hartford; and six nieces, Catherine N. Glasson, Cecelia Mulligan, Catherine P. Foley, all of East Hartford, Mary Bowie, Elizabeth Scully, both of West Hartford, and Helen S. Mig-gins of Farmington.

She was predeceased by a brother, Martin Powell; ana a sister, Catherine Murphy. Mary Ann "Ann" (Szegda) Gillette, 80, of Spielman Highway, Burlington, died Thursday (Dec. 31, 1992) at Bristol Hospital. She was born Feb. 29, 1912, in Burlington, daughter of the late Michael and Rose (Pracon) Szegda, and had lived In Burlington for all of her life. Mrs.

Gillette owned and operated a group home In Burlington for 25 years prior to her retirement in 1987. She was a member of St. Patrick's Church, Collinsville. She is survived by two sisters, Nellie Pavlik, and Helen Preira, both of Burlington; a brother, Henry Szegda of Barefoot Bay, four nieces, Barbara Dahle, Carolyn Driscoll, Marilyn Schwarzmann, and Lori Bereza, all of Burlington; two nephews, Wayne Preira of Torrington, and Joseph Preira of West Hartford; several grandnieces and nephews. Funeral will be Monday, 9:15 a.m., from the Vincent Funeral Home, 120 Albany Turnpike, Canton, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10 a.m., in St.

Monica D. Hemingway, 78, of 273 Pond View Drive, Southington, died Wednesday Dec. 30). She was the wife of John R. Hemingway.

Born Oct. 29, 1914 in New Britain, daughter of the late Joseph and Michelina (Ka-minski) Chadukewicz. She had been a resident of Southington for 37 years. She was a former employee of the New Britain Dry Cleaners. Mrs.

Hemingway was a parishioner of Mary Our Queen Church, a member of the Ladies Guild of the church, and a member of Calendar House. Besides her husband, she is survived by a son, Ronald J. Hemingway of Oak-dale; three brothers, Leo Chad-wick of West Hartford, Lucien Chadwlck of Largo, and Stanley Chadwick of Sun City, and three grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Richard Hemingway and a sister. Bertha Villano.

The funeral will be held Monday, 9:15 a.m., from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main to Mary Our Queen Church at 10 a.m. for a Mass. Burial will be in St. Thomas Cemetery.

Calling hours are Sunday, 3-7 p.m. HIGGINS. Beatrice "Betty" L. Higgins, of 21D Carver Lane, Manchester, died Dec. 30, 1992, at a local nursing home.

She was the wife of Carl t. "Cap" Higgins for 65 years. During World War II, she served on the staff of the Red Cross at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Dayton, Ohio. She was a member of the South United Methodist Church, the Eastern Star, Dayton, Ohio, the DAR, Bar Harbor, Maine, and also started the library at Buckley School, Manchester. Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Sandra L.

Ingison of Bafdwins-ville, N.Y., and the Rev. Joyce M. Scales of Southington; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a great-grandchild in Hawaii. A memorial service will be Saturday, 10 a.m., at South United Methodist Church, 1226 Main Manchester. There are no calling hours.

Memorial donations may be made to South United Methodist Memorial Fund. The Holmes Funeral Home has charge of arrangements. GARRY. Thomas J. Garry, 47, of San Antonio, Texas, died Friday (Dec.

25, 1992). He is survived by his wife, Celina Garry; his mother, Marjorie Garry; his brothers, Robert and David Garry of Southington, Randall Garry of Massachusetts, and James Garry of Texas; a sister, Laurel Tomassetti of Southington; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Robert W. Garry, Sr. Funeral services and burial were held in San Antonio, Texas.

DEATH NOTICES ARBO. Philip A. Arbo, 67, formerly of Northford, and West Hartford, husband of Elaine (Parent) Arbo, died Wednesday Dec. 30) at Westerly Hospital. He was born in Presque Isle, Maine.

Before retiring to Charlestown, R.I. In 1985, he was employed at Pratt Whitney Aircraft as a foreman. 22, 1907 in Middle-town, daughter of the late Carmelo and Sebastians D'Aquila, and had been a lifelong Middle-town resident. She was a member of St. Sebastian Church and the Italian Society of Middletown. Prior to her retirement, she was employed by E.I.S. Brake Parts.

Mrs. Caramma is survived by a daughter1, Lillian Gallitto of Middletown; three sisters, Lucy Pattavlna, Mary Catalano and Connie LaBel-la, all of Middletown; three grandchildren, David Gallitto, Richard Gallitto and Kristie Gallitto; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. TYSZKA. Mary (Cwikla) Tyszka, 92, of Simsbury, wife of the late Frank Tyszka, died suddenly but peacefully In her sleep Wednesday (Dec. 30, 1992). Born in Hartford, Oct. 24, 1900, daughter of the late Thomas and Katherine (Zapal) Cwikla, she resided in the Hartford area for most of her life.

In earlier years, jhe was a communicant of SS. Cyril and Methodius Church, was a member of the ladies guild, and the Polish Women's Alliance of America.
